Hi Folks,

Anyone have a source for an 1889 Marlin centerfire firing pin? I'm restoring one in .44 WCF and sure enough, the FP is broken. GPC (Numrich) doesn't have one.

Appreciate any leads!

Finding parts for an 1889 is pretty tough.  Do you still have the old firing pin?  What's broken?  It may be easier to repair the existing pin than to find a new one.

Pettifogger,

Indeed I do have the old firing pin. In fact it still works, after a fashion. It appers to be broken in two. I noticed that the rifle would only cycle at fullcock or if the hammer was slightly retacted. Upon removing the bolt I discovered that the rear of the FP could be pulled to the rear while the pin still protruded. I've yet to take the FP out of the bolt. I'll do so today and see if it looks as though it can be repaired. I'd still like to find a replacement.

Thanks for the advice!

Bilbo, I just happen to have a 1889 Marlin firing pin.  I had purchased a well used 1889 Marlin 44WCF several years ago, but have since sold it. Anyhow I had bought two firing pins for a 1889 Marlin 44WCF from Brownells and still have one firing pin left. This firing pin looks like new and has not ever been installed,(just an extra) I paid $35.00 plus shipping. If interested, can contact me here for more info. Also have the original worn extractor and the original Rocky Mountain brass blade front sight.

Stepnmud,

Thanks for all the replys!
