Where to purchase Spencer bullets?
« on: August 05, 2008, 11:00:05 AM »
Hello all,

I'm new to reloading. I do not have the gear to cast my own bullets. After going through the threads here I found most of you cast your own bullets for your Spencers. I have plenty of spent brass, dies and a lee handpress. Is there a company out there that sells the bullets pre-made? The rising costs of ammunition have almost turned my three Spencers into wallhangers! Thanks in advance.

Buffalo Arms sells cast bullets for the Spencer.  Their prices are reasonable, and the service excellent.  Google them.

I have ordered bullets for my 500 Smith from this outfit:

It looks like they sell a 330 grain bullet that should work.

Very good sevice and the bullets are excellent.

Thanks for the info guys!  ;D I'm shooting a Taylor's repro. My original 60 carbine and rifle are wallhangers in my 1860s guestroom. I have a very understanding wife.

Was checking my Midway catalog and found this Spencer bullet link:

I think this company has already been mentioned in previous posts on this thread.

I am new to shooting the Spencer.... and to reloading...   I made a epoxy plug (casting slug)  of the chamber and it came out great.... now I need to measure the distance from the outside lands to the outside lands to get the exact dimentions of the bullet I need....Right ?   or do I want it slightly oversize ? the lands and grooves are real sharp and shiny ...... this is an original carbine...

Thanks
