Christian Edward "Little Skittle" Wheeler, infant son of Clayton and Nickie (Long) Wheeler of Neodesha, Kansas, died Monday, March 29,. 2010 at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.  

Christian was born August 13, 2009 in Chanute, Kansas.  He was diagnosed with a very rare childhood disease: Congenital Myopathy with Fiber Type Disproportion.

Survivors include his parents; one sister, Cadence Eryn Wheeler of the home; one brother, Cashton Eugene Wheeler of the home; maternal grandparents, Tom and Marlyn (Light) Long of Independence, Kansas and Glen and Twila Bales of rural Havana, Kansas; paternal grandparents, Floyd and Hilda Wheeler of rural Neodesha, Kansas; maternal great-grandparents, Elvern and Pauline Bales of Independence, Kansas and Bertha Light of Independence, Kansas; and paternal great-grandmother, Lillie Lee Wheeler of Manhattan, Kansas.  

He is preceded in death by his sister, Caytlon Wheeler; his maternal great-grandparents, Edward and Winnie Mae Long; and his paternal great-grandparents, Roy Wheeler and Willie Mae Borders.

Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel-Loran Fawcett Chapel, 704 Indiana, Neodesha, Kansas 66757.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2010 at Christ Church in Neodesha, Kansas under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel.  Rev. Dave Cheshier will officiate.  Interment will be held in Shelly Cemetery, Neodesha, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Wheeler Scholarship Fund at the First Neodesha Bank.
