I Am an Animal Rescuer

My job is to assist God's creatures
I was born with the need to fulfill their needs
I take in new family members without plan, thought, or selection
I have bought dog food with my last dime
I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand
I have hugged someone vicious and afraid
I have fallen in love a thousand times
and I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body

I have Animal Friends and friends who have animal friends
I don't often use the word "pet"
I notice those lost at the road side
And my heart aches
I will hand raise a field mouse
And make friends with a vulture
I know of no creature unworthy of my time

I want to live forever if there aren't animals in Heaven
But I believe there are
Why would God make something so perfect and leave it behind
We may be master of the animals,
But the animals have mastered themselves
Something people still haven't learned

War and Abuse makes me hurt for the world
But a rescue that makes the news gives me hope for mankind
We are a quiet but determined army
And making a difference ever day

There is nothing more necessary than warming an orphan
nothing more rewarding than saving a life
No higher recognition than watching them thrive
There is no greater joy than seeing a baby play
who only days ago, was too weak to eat

I am an Animal Rescuer
My work is never done,
My home is never quiet
My wallet is always empty
But my heart is always full

In the game of life, we have already won

I like that. Thank you for posting it.

I can only go so far, but lately I think all the feral and not so feral cats, know that
if they come to my door, I just may include them in the daily feeding of the dogs that
own me and the next door neighbors cats.........

I guess you could call me a rescuer.............altho my heart seems to enjoy each and every kind of
animal.....even the ones I give a wide berth........Would rather be with a bunch of wild (or not so wild) animals
than a bunch of people who scare me.

God bless
Today, I want to make a difference.
Here I am Lord, use me!

Judy,
I can totally relate to that. I would much rather stand out in the cold with the horses and talk to them. I have always "rescued" animals. In 3rd grade I got in trouble for taking a frog to school that I found at the bus stop. It was cold so I put it in my backpack and he went to school. Animals seem to have a funny sense. I drove by a lot the other day of some horse that we are concerned about and one horse stood at the fence and nickered to me. "like hey, come get me"

That is the way I am with the cats.
We went for a couple of years with no cats.
We have a neighbor who hates cats and when they
get in her yard, she traps them and takes them
away. No idea where, but I can imagine.

My brother laughingly said that if it had 4 legs,
I would adopt it.......LOL> he doesn't know how
much truer that is the older I get.

I can't do much, but I can
take care of his creatures.
Today, I want to make a difference.
Here I am Lord, use me!

I look at it this way, I could pay a therapist hundreds of dollars but I feel better talking to a horse all day (while i'm getting paid) and feel much better when I leave.
