Birthday Swim

Last Thursday evening at 6:30, a group of people gathered at the home of Rex and Marge Armstrong.  The occasion was to celebrate Marge's birthday.  Four car loads took off for the Eureka swimming pool.  After an hour of fun in the pool, all sang happy birthday to Marge.  Lora Marie Shipman was also included in the song, because her birthday was also this last week. All enjoyed a picnic supper of fried chicken with all of the trimmings.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Boone, Joyce, Betty, Terry, and Sandy, Larry Loyd, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hull and Jim, Mr. and Mrs. Millard Shipman, Ronnie and Gale, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Northam, Dennis and Elva Jo, Mrs. Helen Kesner, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cooley, Ann, Larry, and John, Jon Burghart, Rex, Carl Rex, and the honoree, Marge Armstrong.

The party diispersed about 10:00 o'clock, after having watched the Christian church Sunday School classes from Severy and Howard enjoy their private swim.

All wished Marge many more happy birthdays in the years to come.--Reporter.

Now, how funny this is, Lois.  This is my great aunt Marge, my Grandma Thelma Weyrauch Furrow's sister.

Ya wanna hear something else "funny?"  Don's second cousin's are Mary Margaet McKulsky, Helen Groene, Joe Morgan, and I forget the name of the other one.  Their mother was Catherine Weyrauch Morgan, father-Bill Morgan.  Small world, isn't it?

Something else?  Catherine Weyrauch Morgan was my husband's Aunt Elizabeth.  I don't know when she stopped being Libby and became Catherine.  I don't know how far back the Elizabeth goes, nicknamed Libby.  My husband has a sister Elizabeth (Libby) Kling and a niece Elizabeth (Libby).  I trade Christmas cards with Helen and send one to Mary Margaret, but seldom hear from her.  I don't think she is in very good health.

I made the connection by reading it in the Elk County History Book.  No, Mary's health has not been good for many years.  I think she has emphesyma (I don't think I have that spelled right).

If Mary Margaret is your husband's second cousin and my husband's first cousin, does that make us cousins?

No.  It's just that we're on "opposite sides of the fence."  You're on the Weyrauch side, and we're sitting on the Morgan side.

I knew Bill Morgan and thought he was an all right guy.  The people that worked for him on the railroad will tell you that there wasn't anyone any better.

Don remembers him, too.  I think I have a copy of his obituary around her somewhere,  If I remember right, he died in Topeka, Ks.  He and his family were living in Winfield, KS.  I think he may have been buried in the Catholic cemetery at Winfield.

Yes, he is buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Winfield.  They brought Aunt Elizabeth back to Winfield to be buried.  I could find the graves if I could find the cemetery.  It is kind of small.
