Whoa there Miss Bonnie Bell. Not sure what you mean saying I'm something else " ;)
Yes, when I go in the café I'm always in a hurry to get out back and into "the smoke shack". Then I'm in my comfort zone--hack--hack--cough--cough !!!
Farmer Joe was here two days ago. He hitched a ride with the A/C-man. He had both his hands out for blue berry and sand plum wine. While waiting for the a/c-man to service my house unit ol Joe set in my shop in my barber chair, using my electricity to run the widow a/c. When we went back into the shop he was sound asleep. If his sweet corn wasn't about ripe I would have run him off but right now I'm being nice to him--until I get my fair share  of that corn !!

I hope he has something else, like tomatoes, that will keep you wanting to be nice to him!

You people are just too much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of A/C------------a few days ago, my wife noticed a sound coming from the 5-ton roof central air conditioner on the roof.  This system is designed to run at a low speed to circulate the air and then run higher when you select cool air or heat.  Top of the line model and all that good stuff.  Anywho, we called the guy who installed it and he said he would send someone out.  The next day, a gentleman called (that would be Thursday) and said he would be out Friday AM to check it out.  Then he called Friday around noon and said he would be here around 2PM.  Then around 2:30, there was a call that he would be here soon.  He showed around 4PM.  At this point, I would usually say forget it, I will find someone else.  But, I stayed with him.  After giving the unit an inspection, he confirmed my lay opinion that the motor was going.  He made some calls to see if he could get a motor.  He then promised to return today (Saturday) and install the motor and give the unit a good cleaning.  In the meantime, I found the original invoices and warranty.  The heat exchanger was guaranteed for 20 years..........any other parts were guaranteed for 5 years.  The date on the invoice...........August 2005...........5 years, 10 months ago.  Figures.

So, to make this story long, he showed today and cleaned the coils and checked all the other parts and installed the new motor.  He put everything back together and fired her up.  After about one minute of blissful normal A/C humming, the noise returned.
The look on his face was really a sight to behold.  All that work and a new motor, and it still sounding like it did Thursday.  So he removed one panel and reglued the insulation that was coming off and while the panel was off, the sound went away.  He put the panel  back and the noise returned.  Meanwhile, his teenage son who was along to help out leaned his elbow on top of the unit while "daddy" tried to figure out where he messed up.  Oh, yeah my wife and I are on the patio watching. When his son leaned on the top of the unit the sound went away.  I'm thinking I just bought a new motor I didn't really need.  To end this long story, he finally discovered that the top of of unit was not fitting tightly and tightened some screws and added more. Noise is gone.  In his professional opinon I really did need a new motor. My wife is happy that the A/C is works and that is my excitement for the day.

We've got concerned parent birds following newly fledged babies around the yard today. Cardinals, blue jays, and wrens. I heard an oriole yesterday but never did see it.
We had young foxes playing under the street light last night and when I turned on the back yard light for a minute just before bed I saw a very embarrassed raccoon climbing the pole to one of my bird feeders. He looked at me as if to say "Oops, ya caught me." He climbed back down and went wandering off. Then about 1:00 AM, just under our open second floor bedroom window, a skunk tangled with something and really let fly. Woo! I didn't know I could shut a window that fast!  I'm going to make a strawberry rhubarb pie for Al soon. Have a wonderful day.

I am watching my new dog learn where everything is, he is starting to feel pretty secure already.  I just got him last night and he is doing fine, he is two years old and from a home with two other small dogs and I have one bull mastiff that isn't sure about a chihuahua in the house.  The mastiff is outside but would like to be inside.  They are about the same age so neither one puppies, think they will share the yard once they get used to each other.

He wasn't a rescue dog but his owner had to re-locate and couldn't take any dogs so he would have gone to a shelter.  Very well cared for and already has a chip, very well mannered and so far hasn't barked.  I wanted one that will bark if someone comes in the yard and I hope once he gets used to being here he will.  Have had the bull for almost a year and he doesn't bark and will almost open the door and welcome complete strangers in.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Ms Bear,
You really ought to have a dog like my yorkie/mix..........she will bark when ever a strange noise is made.
In fact, if I haven't spoken outloud for a bit, I live alone and haven't yet developed the habit of talking to myself, LOL
when I do say something...............like cough or even say, dummy why did you do that, when playing a game. She goes ape.......thinking someone is here.
I don't let her bark, started when she was a baby.........if she is warning me, that is one thing, but not just for barkings sake.
I swore I would not have a yippe-yappee dog and what do you know I have one.
So most of the time she just whispers an "arf" if she wasn't sitting behind or on me, I may not hear her....but once in awhile she just has to let-er-rip and looks at me as if to say..........."mom, I just had to" I get company and someone knocks at door, she is ready to sound the alarm........so be careful what you wish for.
Sounds like you three will settle in soon. Good luck.
Today, I want to make a difference.
Here I am Lord, use me!

My pleasant day started this morning when one of my best friends brought me a slice of a breakfast pizza to work. What a way to start the day!!!! Tomorrow, I will return the favor. Yes. I do work with one of my best friends. We are just like two peas in a pod.

The other thing that happened to me today is I was driving west on county road 5800 from 10th street. This is in Montgomery County. I see something start across the road from the south. It is a peacock. He was just a strutting across the road like he owned the darn thing. He did not have his feathers at full mast. Glad I didn't hit him. I had never seen him before, so now that I have, will keep a watch for crossing peacocks.

My day is going to be unique. I hope I spelled that right, I am not going to use spell check or look it up. :)~
I leave this morning to drive to Wichita and see the cardiac surgeon.
My neighbor is going with me. I know where his office building is and will bypass the Kellogg overpass........at least going in.
Plan on using central from Webb road. I think once upon a time I saw a GoodWill on Central and if I must be in Wichita more.........I want to get familiar with businesses and the like.
And shop????? if there is money after I buy gas.
I couldn't get the county van and the other services I don't qualify for. Oh well, it is only money and I have a strong faith that the Lord will provide.
Keep me in your prayers that the day isn't too stressful and that we get back home safely.
I am use to driving to and in Topeka, have not been to Wichita by myself for maybe 10 years or so. Can't remember last time I drove it. I have ridden with other people, so not unfamiliar.
Ok I am rambling and must get dressed and ready to go. God keep you and bless you all.
Today, I want to make a difference.
Here I am Lord, use me!

Judy, I hope you have a safe trip and find all places you want are close together so you can hit them all everytime you have to go.

I am enjoying the nice fresh smell of rain, finally.  We have been under burn ban since last year and the fires were within 50 miles of me.  It started raining real slow about 4 am and has soaked in so we feel a little safer.
