What a day!  I arrived at the restaurant where we all met for lunch.  It was a really good Mexican restaurant.  Then a stop at a playground on the beach not far from the American Legion Post.  The three granddaughters had a blast playing on the slides and swings and burying each other in sand. Temp at the beach in the mid 70's.  We had a good time chatting and reliving old memories and enjoying SoCal at its best.  I don't get many days like this and it was really great.  I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful family! ;D

And speaking of wonderful families........It is now official.  My son and daughter-in-law made their initial visit to the doctor this morning and she was examined and, yes, there is a heartbeat and my family will increase by one more on or about August 27!  I kidded her and told her that if she really loved me she would have the baby on August 12, my birthday and my second granddaughter's birthday as well.  Imagine three of us having the same birthday within three generations!  On top of that I told her it was traditional also, as my great-grandfather, who was the one to move the family to Elk County, was also born on August 12.  She said she would see what she could do.  Love that girl!

I think I'm finally back to more or less normal after being really sick with that awful stomach bug that is sweeping across the country. It hit Al on Wednesday and got me on Thursday and didn't really let go until Sunday.I haven't been that sick and laid out in years! That's a heck of a way to lose weight.
I just finished reading a delightful article on Teresa and Kjell. Had a nice photo too.
Now to figure out what to do for dinner. Nothing sounds good and we're just barely back to solid food, lived on Gatorade.

Nothing wrong with breakfast 2 or 3 times a day. I am an nut when it comes to cereal.
blend my own. Get 2 or 3 boxes of cheaper cereal and add a good box of a good mix. I like fruit and nuts mixed with the oats or bran and when combined (in a large container) it will last me "FOREVER" ok, maybe a month.........but it sounds expensive but if you add your own flavors you will be surprised what it can make.

For a treat I will add some dry to yogurt and it is a great desert and low in calories (Unless you add the super high sugary ceral) but except for the dried fruit, I get unsweetened ceral and never miss the sugar. Ok some of this has sucrose but I do not add extra.

I just survived a scare. Went to doctor ljust over a week ago and she found a mass in my neck. Well after stewing and fretting I had a CTscan and found out it is JUST scar tissue. Praise the Lord. I had myself going through the whole shitty mess again and the let down today is just wonderful. I did get more white hairs. Plus my sister and daughter will need extra boxes of color to cover their hairs. God is go Great!
Glad you and Al are feeling better.

My fire company hosted the January State of Delaware  fire chiefs' meeting at our big hall yesterday evening. They always have a good speaker after dinner and nationally known Dr. Harry Carter spoke on mentoring.
Now I really am going somewhere with this. I seldom need to go to the state meetings, but about 20 years ago I went to one in Odessa since I had to give a report. They always sell 50/50's to raise a little money, and for the first time ever..I won. My piece was $45.00.  Last night I commented to Al how long ago I had won, as I bought another 50/50 ticket.. Yup...I won again! $91.00 was my share. I gave our ladies auxiliary some since they had prepared such a nice dinner for us ,gave some to Al and piggy banked the rest. I'm normally not someone who wins things, so this was really remarkable.

Today was the day. Al had his urology Dr.s appointment and his biopsy results were back. It was cancer. But, on the good side, very early, only one cell layer thick and he got it all. Unfortunarely, now Al has to be scoped every three months for the next two years. Dr Glick said the little cancers do sometimes return, but if it does, again they will get it early. So, other than being annoying, things should be fine...we hope and pray.
