I never did like venison that much.

Today is a typical Friday.  Two oldest granddaughters showed up at 7:30 and after a few minutes of talking to my daughter, I took them to oldest one's school and dropped her off.  Then back home for 30 minutes and then off to the preschool to take the other one off.  A problem with the central air conditioner happened a few days ago.  It works but needs some service.  The A/C guy will be here shortly to fix the problem.  My daughter also had problems a few days ago and he fixed hers.

Today, I will be down at the Longton Fair Grounds helping with the
annual Bow Shoot that the Longton Christian Church sponsors............wild game feed at noon
and all kinds of bragging about who shoots more targets and what kind of hunting we have had
since we met last year.
Come on and watch OR Shoot......bring your bow and appetite............shoot starts at 10 and I think is over
around 2 but then we all stay around and shoots the breeze.
You would be so welcome.............Door prizes for those who enter the shoot and good company.
Today, I want to make a difference.
Here I am Lord, use me!

As my son is on his dream trip visiting baseball stadiums, which by the way, he was present at that Red's game that the pitcher pitched a no-hitter in yesterday, my daughter-in-law needs to finish up with the unpacking.  So we will have #3 for the day and overnight and then drive to the beach tomorrow to bring her back.  She can get more done if she doesn't have the baby around.

Today and tomorrow are the last days of the Los Angeles County fair.  It appears that we won't make it this year, but that is okay.  I can't remember the last time I went.  The fairgrounds are a huge area with many exhibit buildings, food vendors, a whole section of carnival rides and games, animal pens, music stages, and on and on.  It is a day long experience and a very tiring one for us older folk.  What with my wife's back and leg problems and her cousin's hip problem, the desire to go isn't really there.  Oh, well.

So, just hanging with the 2-year-old today...........playing on her IPad.....(yep, she has her own IPad)......... ::)

I don't think so.  I can't remember if he has ever been to Chicago.

Side note:  Daughter has been a little under the weather the last few days.  In a phone call this afternoon, we heard that #1 granddaughter has caught it and is running a fever.  They had planned to attend the fair this weekend, but it likely isn't going to happen.  They also planned to go to the beach tomorrow, but that isn't going to happen either.

We're going to the Charcoal Pit in awhile. A step back in time. We all went there as teens after dates. The very tasty fresh burger combinations are all named after local high school teams.
They still make real milk shakes on a milk shake machine ,with it frothed up so much you get the big glassful, plus the big metal mixing cup.
Then there is "The kitchen Sink.'' It's a huge punch bowl of ice cream that has something like 20 scoops of ice cream in it, as well as all the sundae toppings. It takes at least 8 famished people to eat it all! or maybe three teenaged football players. ;)
We're meeting up with another couple. The wife has recently figured out that she may have developed Post Polio Syndrome. Al is going to pass on all his research and books and doctors names so she can get a grip on who she should see and what she should do. Her husband, who is a pulmonologist himself, is skeptical that there is such a thing. We'll see if we can help him too.  She is having severe fatigue and is starting to lose her balance and fall, so she's using a cane to help. I think she needs a trip to a gate lab, like post stroke patients sometimes go to, to see if she would benefit from leg braces.

Let me tell you about what I did the other day while shopping.  I bought something that was absolutely unnecessary and frivolous, even though I have been trying to pay off my credit card.  But we have had so much fun with it that I have decided that I have my money's worth all ready.

I bought a Halloween candy dish.  What is so frivolous about that?  Well, this particular dish is guarded by Death, himself.  If you try to filch a piece of his candy, he jumps at you and says all kinds of scary things to you, while his eyes flash red.  Of course, he is motion activated and he activates at the slightest provocation at times.  Daughter can pass between him and the kitchen windows and it sets him off.  I can just roll past him at times and he shouts at me.  But the most fun is youngest daughter who just cannot help but jump when he jumps.

Her first experience with him, she thought she had it conquered and was slowly trying to steal a piece of candy, had her fingers on it, when he jumped.  The candy went flying across the room and she landed ten feet away from him.  I already have my money's worth from him.

Firing up the DVR to watch my guilty pleasure. ABC's  "Once Upon A Time".  You can get all your favorite childhood stories compressed into an interesting tv show. It is no Snookie from Jersey Shore, but that is a good thing.
KEEP THE BATTLEFRONT CLEAR PLEASE DON'T FEED THE TROLLS.

Mom, that candy dish was great. I loved it. I can't wait for Garret to see it.
