The payment was sweeter than money.  How nice of him to notice and then take care of it.

My son-in-law has been staying with me for almost a month while he was getting some timber cut on his property here.  I actually cooked a few meals and we ate out a few times, was nice to have someone to eat with.  He did a lot of trimming of branches that were already bigger than I could cut and some that were higher than I could reach.  My step-daughter passed away last December and he is still adjusting to his loss.  His visit was good for both of us and I am glad I was the kind of mother-in-law that he felt that he could come and stay with.  The help in the yard was very much appreciated and he was able to save a lot on motels and food.

Not a lot of fun going places alone and we went to San Antonio for three days and had a great time, nice getting to go without having to do all the driving too.  He left this morning but will be back in three or four months for a couple of days.

What did you do in San Antonia? I love that city with the Alamo and the River Walk, great food, the street musicians the public art and lots of shopping.

Our excitement this morning is cool temperatures and light, steady rain.  What a blessing for this parched area!!!!

Ms Bear

We had rain today but I was in a meeting and missed it.  Looks like we might have gotten a half inch.

I have silver leaf maple tree in the front yard and the bark has split, looks like some bugs have made nests under the bark.  Hope I don't lose the tree.

I love San Antonio and have never had time to see as much as I want to see.  The weather was really nice and it was so much easier to breathe there.  Did do lots of walking.  This time we went to the Alamo, River Walk, Zoo and Sea World.  Really want to go back and go to the Japanese Gardens, the Missions and two other musuems.  We stopped in Houston on the way to San Antonio and went to see the Titanic exhibit at the Houston Musuem of History.  That was very nice.

Next time I want to see the zoo and the Japanese gardens also. We ran out of time on the last trip.

Didn't have to work. Warm end of summer day. Went to the barn to straighten up a little. Got side tracked movin' the old Zenith stereo. Long story short. Fired up stereo and listened to Al Hirt's "Honey in the Horn" on vinyl. Listened to it again. It's true what they say vinyl is better than digital. Simple pleasures. Not much done today, but that is ok. Time well spent.

He played a fantastic trumpet. I always did like the way he played. Thanks for sharing that. I didn't realize he was such a big guy. At least, he looks big next to those dancers.

Janet, I am "tickled", as my grandma used to say, that you liked the post. I was not sure anyone would know who Al Hirt was much less like this esoteric music. While I praised listening to it on vinyl; I have to give prop's to the internet (digital) for letting me share a little bit of nostalgia with you all.

Not know Al Hirt? Some of us are older than you might think. Loved Java.

Hah!  Don't remember?  One of the first record albums I ever got was an Al Hirt album.  My brother once lived in New Orleans and on a trip there, he took us on a tour of Bourbon street.  We walked past Al Hirt's club as well as Pete Fountain's club.  Jazz music was booming onto the sidewalk.  A memory I will never forget.

HELP!  I'm talking and I can't shut up!

I came...  I saw...  I had NO idea what was going on...
