an observation of what some people do when given the key to the city.

On Sunday, President Obama flew back to the United States on Air Force One.
His wife, two daughters and her mother stayed on in Paris to do a bit of
shopping in Paris
before taking their own Boeing 757 (C-32) over to London to do some
sightseeing.

We all remember Obama's admonishment to corporate CEOs in
February:

"You can't buy or use corporate jets, you can't go take a trip to
Las Vegas or go to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers dime." Apparently that
doesn't apply to the Queen of Washington.

The London Times opened its description of Michelle's visit this way:

"Motorcycle outriders, armored Chevrolets and bullet-headed men in
raincoats criss-crossed London yesterday as Michelle Obama and her
daughters spent a second day on an unofficial visit to the capital."

The Times went on to describe that when Michelle and the girls arrived at
Westminster Abbey, the building was closed to tourists with people already
in , told to wait
against the wall.

An American visiting the Abbey said "Right then I knew it was probably
someone from our royal family".

Michelle's motorcade shut down the London street above as the First Lady of
the World and her children
go for Fish and Chips at a pub in Mayfair. The entourage inside the
restaurant was 15 people while dozens
more wait outside.
Include the dozens of Air Force personnel to fly and service the plane,
embassy personnel and other staff
and we are talking about a serious expenditure of tax payer dollars.

Meanwhile, millions of Americans have lost their jobs and won't be able to
take their family on a summer holiday.
Despite their circumstances they'll still be expected to fork over the tax
dollars to pay for Michelle's trip!

KEEP IN MIND, we have another 3 1/2 years of this. Absolutely incredible!

Olympic National Park is a beautiful area on a clear sunny day but quite miserable on a rainy and very foggy day which seems to happen a lot.  When I go to Victoria Island where my first cousin lives, I take the Ferry out of Port Angeles.  Good little trip for whale watching.... Warph

I'm not defending anyone, I'm saying, hold them to the same standard.  I think it's hilarious when someone posts something like this, just to attack one president because they don't like the party he's from, not realizing that the guy from their party did the exact same thing.  I understand that most (not all, with respect to warph and others) of you who post these things don't really do any research before you post, but i don't mind doing it for you, i love reading and looking stuff up.  If you want to attack Obama, fine, but stick to the real issues.  I'm sure if i looked around, i can find someone screaming over the media making a big deal about Palin's wardrobe and the attacks on her family.  It's not an issue, i agree, but it's also not an issue with the Obama's either. 

I really admire Colin Powell for stepping forward during the election and making the statements he did.  The political discourse we have has taken a turn for the worse.  Stick to the issues.  Stop copying and pasting from nut jobs from the far right and the far left, think for yourselves.  We are all better than they are when it comes to talking about what's important to us.  We live the country's problems every day and unlike these writers (i like to call them entertainers, they aren't really journalists), we don't have to concoct stories and outrage people in order to make an easy buck.

Anmar, the people should be outraged at this!  The first lady gets to go shopping on the taxpayers dollar, mean while, back in america, folks are losing their jobs, homes, and savings.  For me, this goes a long way in defining the charater of the obamas.  And just for the record, yes, bush did it to, but NEWSFLASH Bush isn't president anymore!!!  Obama is the one that said "..we have to quit living beyond our means" and "..we're going to have to tighten our belts" yet he sends his wife on a shopping spree courtsey of the american taxpayer.
