Here's a reminder that the 49th annual
~ BIBLESTA ~
will be in Humboldt on Saturday, October 7th.  The link shows the stage events for this year.  There are always lots of great food booths, window displays, and the last few years games & activities for kids.  If you have the time, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the day!  This is the only Bible themed parade in the US that we know of, and is definately the longest running one.

Keep in mind that next year's Biblesta will be the 50th anniversary and an even bigger celebration is planned for that event.  Biblesta is always held on the first Saturday in October.

This brings back memories.  I grew up in Chanute, Ks (Graduated 1962) which is only a few miles from Humboldt.  Our band marched in the Biblesta Parade every year.  I haven't been to one in decades but have fond and fun memories.  One year we were marching behind a huge flock of sheep, which was tricky enough, but something spooked them and they began to scatter. Some ran back through the band and others across the square.  The guys, in full costume, who obviously knew nothing about herding sheep were running in every direction along with us and various people on the sidelines.  Anyway, I'm sitting here laughing as I relive that scene. It is a wonderful parade and a one of a kind.

That even made me smile.
