Kenneth Olen Harrod, died Tuesday, November 14, 2000 at the Howard Twilight Manor Nursing Home in Howard, Kansas.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Severy Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Pameticky officiating.  Carter-Radar American Legion Post will conduct military graveside services at Grace Lawn Cemetery in Howard.

A memorial has been established with the Severy Baptist Church.  Contributions may be left with Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard.

Mr. Harrod was born February 2, 1921 at Howard, to William and Ada (Stone) Harrod.  He graduated from Piedmont High School in Piedmont, Kansas and grew up in the Howard and Piedmont area.  He was employed by ranchers in the Piedmont community before serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He married Florence Ann Boqua on Nov. 22, 1946, at Springfield, Ore.  They lived in California for two years before moving to Kansas in 1948.  He was a farmer and rancher in Elk County throughout his life.  In 1973 he and his wife bought a farm southeast of Severy, Kansas on Indian Creek, where they lived until moving into Howard in 1995.  His wife died in 1995.

He was a member of Carter-Radar American Legion Post and the Severy Baptist Church in Severy.

He is survived by two sons, Tim Harrod of Marathon, Wisconsin and Carl Harrod of Tacoma, Washinton;  a brother, Chet Harrod of Santa Barbara, California;  a sister, Naomi Hinkle of Valley Center, Kansas; and  five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
