 Sharon Louise (Sharp) Schouten, 61, of Piedmont, Kansas, paraprofessional educator, died Friday, October 17, 2008.  She was an avid seamstress and quilter.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Schouten of the home; three sons, Ashley Schouten of Piedmont, Kansas, John Schouten of Fall River, Kansas, and Ryan Schouten of Piedmont, Kansas; one daugher, Star Troyer of Norwich, Kansas; three brothers, Richard Noakes of Wichita, Kansas, Martin Sharp of Wichita, Kansas, and Robert Sharp of Severy, Kansas; and five sisters, Joan Karsting of Smith Center, Kansas, Connie Shipman of Marion, Kansas, Myrna Leckliter of Herington, Kansas, Linda Loebeck of Augusta, Kansas, and Judy Schouten of Leon, Kansas.

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at the Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Piedmont Community Association are suggested.  Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home,  P.O. Box 595 , Eureka, Kansas 67045, which is in charge of service arrangements.

     Sharon Louise Schouten, 61, of Piedmont died on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.  She was born on January 5, 1947 in Winfield, the daughter of Louis Conard and Grace Marie (Griffith) Sharp.  She was raised in the Howard area and graduated from Howard High School in 1965.  After high school she attended college in Coffeyville. 
     On July 9, 1966 she was united in marriage to Lee Schouten in Howard.  After he returned from the service,  they made their home farming in Piedmont and Sharon worked as a paraprofessional in the Eureka school district. She was an avid quilter and seamstress.
     She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
     She is survived by her husband, Lee, of the home; three sons, Ashley Schouten of Piedmont, John Schouten of Fall River, and Ryan Schouten of Piedmont; one daughter, Star Troyer of Norwich; three brothers, Richard Noakes of Wichita, Martin Sharp of Wichita and Robert Sharp of Severy; and five sisters, Joan Karsting of Smith Center, Connie Shipman of Marion, Myrna Leckliter of Herington, Linda Loebeck of Augusta and Judy Schouten of Leon.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
     Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery at Piedmont.
     A memorial has been established with the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or to the Piedmont Community Association.  Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home; P.O. Box 595; Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
