Walter C. Pape, 86, was born October 29, 1921 at Rural Alta Vista, Kansas, the oldest child of Henry W. and Minnie (Kahle) Pape.  He departed this life October 12, 2008 at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas

Walt was a graduate of Climax High School.  Walt was united in marriage on May 16, 1944 to Marjorie Bahr in Severy, Kansas.

Walt did plumbing and carpenter work until 1962 when he went to work for the City of Severy as Maintenance Man, Sewer and Water Superintendent for 19 1/2 years.  Walt was a member of the Severy Baptist Church.

Walt is survived by his wife, Marjorie, of the home; one son, Walter E. Pape and his wife Teresa of Viola, Kansas; two daughters, Deborah Samuels of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Kimberly Warren and her husband Bobby of Haysville, Kansas; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Daniel E. Pape of Olpe, Kansas, David J. Pape of Ft. Morgan, Colorado, and J.H. (Junior) Pape of Sedan, Kansas; and one sister, Henryetta Craig of Severy, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2008 at th Severy Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Pameticky officiating.  Visitation will be Thursday, October 16, 2008, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Interment will be at South Lawn Cemetery.  

Family suggests contributions to the Severy Baptist Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard, Kansas.
