  Ron was Patsy Mays McCann's husband, Patsy and her sister Phyllis went to school in Howard, Phyllis graduated from Howard in the class of 1952, Patsy was in my Class and graduated from Sedan in 1958.

Ronald L. "Ronnie" McCann, 69, of Sedan, Kansas, passed away July 15, 2008 at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan. 

Ronnie was born January 6, 1939 in West Chester, Pennsylvania to Kenneth C. and Mildred (Stafford) McCann.  He attended and graduated from Sedan High School in 1958.  He served in the United States Navy.  On September 13, 1958, he married Pat Mays in Boise, Idaho.  He worked as a butcher at Todd's Quality Meats and Cheese in Sedan from 1956 to 1986.  He later worked at D&D Osage Meats in Ponca City, Oklahoma from 1991 until he retired in 2003.

He was a volunteer firefighter in Sedan for many years and was a member of the Kansas Meat Processors Association and Past President of the Sedan Round-Up Club.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising greyhounds for coyote hunting.

He is survived by his wfe, Pat McCann of Sedan, Kansas; one son, Kenny McCann and his wife Paula of Newkirk, Oklahoma; two daughters, Rhonda Cox and her husband Tim of Sedan, Kansas and Diana Brooks and her husband Rick of Sedan, Kansas; six grandchildren, one step-grandson, one step-granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John; and one sister, Linda.

Cremation has taken place, and family and friends may sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, KS  67361.

Memorial graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas with Rev. Jerry Bever of the First United Methodist Church officiating.

The family has suggested memorials to the Sedan Alumni Association, and those remembrances can be left with or sent to the funeral home.
