I really think that one of the reasons that the "government" didn't push and back Fred Thompson is because he was "too clean.. and that he couldn't be bought and manipulated.
Candidates that are on the ballot right now has been chosen by higher powers than be than we will ever know about. They are in essence puppets... Doing what the government elite tells them to do.
Kjell and I talked long and hard about it coming down here in the truck. We listened to XM radio  and Fox radio most of the way and I really am not ( as most of you believe) a die hard Republican.
I really am an Independent... as there are issues that Republicans are staunchly for that I am not for..

So I keep saying " Out of all the people.. we KNOW that the 2 that were picked are not the best candidates "For the People" .. but they are the best candidates for the "people and big money who run the country's".  ;)

and, like it or not, those 2 are who we have to pick from.

y'know I am 48 years old and I have been voting since i was probably 22 or so. I've voted for some that were decent and I've voted for some that turned out to suck. I probly would have voted for Fred Thompson if he had been nominated. I have my own mind and I vote so I think that has earned me the right to discuss debate or argue politics and the changes that I have a pet feelin for. The fact that I'm a free-thinker doesn't make me some radical nutcase out to destroy the establishment. Do you really think that with all the differences of opinion and agendas the room they wrote the constitution in was a calm ,polite tea party with finger sandwiches and yes sir no sir whatever you say sir? Talk about wantin to be a fly on the wall for that one! I value the opinions of everybody on here, some of you have actually made me change my mind about some things and some of you have made me think about why I feel the way I do about some things and made me believe them stronger. I believe government is too big and too corruptable at this point in time. I believe we have no good alternative in this election. I believe in the American people. I believe in the American military. I believe the radical muslims will not stop till we are destroyed or they are. I believe if people would stop being divisive over color, sex, religion, etc. we could change the world for the better. i'm just as guilty of it as anybody else is,here in this politics forum. I am sorry for that, all I want to do is make people think and push em past their comfort zone somtimes so maybe we can meet in the middle. All I can do is be me and that's that.

I love the Forum and all of the differing views as well.  Let's just keep exercising our right to agree and disagree and be thankful we can do it on a Forum like this.  If anyone upsets me I'll get over it and I hope anyone I upset will get over it as well.  Cause in the end, if push comes to shove, you know we would all stand together to help each other. Thats the Kansas way.

sixdogsmom

Yes that is the Kansas way and mostly the American way. I have just returned from Kansas City! Pam did you hear me this morning when I greeted (hollered at you) from the east side of the Paseo Bridge in Kansas City Mo? Guess not; didn't hear you holler back! I did think about you though. Hope that you and yours are clear of all the high water!

Now, down to the business at hand. This has indeed and is indeed an historic election, and we are living in interesting times like the old legend says. At best the whole thing is a crap shoot, with the American people between a rock and a hard place. We are trying to maintain a way of life while balancing the oil men, and what looks like a pretty grim future for the economy. Folks on fixed incomes who were already counting pennies must yet again suck it up and figure on eating tuna for yet another meal in the week. Our always desirable dollar has become hardly more than worthless paper. And we have sunk to borrowing from the Chinese. I am appalled! I cannot, will not consider using my vote to continue in any way the regieme that has been in power for the past eight years. A regime that lied to the American people and entered an unwinnable war based on that lie. I have a theory as to why we were entered in that war and may share it some day. God save America!

Perhaps we should work on saving America and rely a little less on God.
