F.Y.I perspective from California where we sometimes feel that we have more than our fair share of   "crazies".  After a while they actually start to grow on ya. We like to think of them as eccentric. (LOL)

As far as CCW we have it though it is next to impossible to get approved for one in my part of California. I am a strong opponent when it comes to limiting our Second Amendment rights as are many of my friends. It may be the company you keep but the majority of my neighbors\friends own firearms.

The legislation regarding the government controlling the thermostat may be a little misunderstood in the rest of the country. Here is the basic idea behind it. Due to the vast amount of people and past blunders electricity is a very limited resource here and we often have area blackouts that last from a few hours to as long as a week  The thermostats would not be controlled by the government but by a voter approved non-profit public benefits corporation.. The California I.S.O created during deregulation to control statewide power transmission in an equitable manner fair to everyone in the state. As it stands now there would be times that you can override the control except for times of extreme emergency where Cal ISO could override you. It is definitely a work in progress with many questions still to be explored and worked out.  I can say it is not nearly as controversial here in California as it is elsewhere. I could talk on this issue at more length but I hate reading long posts.

Just in case you get the wrong idea from my post I to dislike the "Nanny state" but if we do this right I think it is an exception to the rule. We will have to wait and see.

I am off to smoke some BBQ beef ribs for lunch now. I hope the Air Quality Management District cops don't come by and force me to stop. I hope a few ribs will work as a sufficient bribe.

I know some mighty fine people who live in California.  Some go there because they have a job and don't want to wait on a hand out.  Some go because they have family, some go because of the weather, some go for lots of other reasons.  I don't see how anyone can sterotype all people who live in a certain state.  I've kept quiet about a lot of the remarks on the forum, but I don't like some of the inuindos that are being put out there.  It's great to debate, but keep it a debate.

I know some crazies as some of you are calling some people who live in Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Iowa, Arkansas, Louisiana and the rest of the 50 states who aren't mentioned above.

Frank is correct. Having lived in California for 30+ years I can tell you that you would be surprised how much they are like you. Many come from the same place that you do. Others come from all across the world. I have been lucky enought to have been exposed to many people and cultures. I would not trade it for anything. As Frank said try and keep it about the debate.

David, you have some of your Mother's wisdom and Philosophy, that is good.

Thank you, Myrna, Frank & David!  Because our sermon at Church on Sunday was on "loving your neighbor," I abstained from saying what I wanted to say!  But, we should be careful about making a board statement that covers so much territory!  In Kansas, I defend California.  In California, I defend Kansas!  So, believe it or not, there are many different opinions about people living in different areas, and I'm all for living in the place where you are the happiest!  I was very happy in Kansas, and I'm very happy living in California!

End of message!

Uncle Frank you can take the boy out of Kansas but you can't take the Kansas out of the boy. (You can add to it though) Also, since my mom and I  love California and have lived here longer than anywhere else I have to say the same about California.

Also, just so all you forum members know Frank Winn is my Uncle.  I  may not always agree with him on everything. But I will say he has alway been there for my mom and he is a man that I have the highest level of respect for.  After reading much of this forum I know you all know that about Frank too.

I don't say it enough, I love you Uncle Frank.
