Neva Lea (Osborn) (Cunningham) Barnaby of Neodesha, Kansas died Sunday evening, February 10, 2008 at the Golden Keys Nursing Home.  She was 82. 

The daughter of Frank L. and Lucy M. (Small) Osborn, she was born May 4, 1925 in Elk Falls, Kansas.  She graduated from Elk Falls High School and later received a teaching certificate from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas.  Neva taught at Hickory Creek and Oak Valley Country Grade Schools and at Elk City Grade School.

She was united in marriage to Robert Cunningham on September 14, 1945 in Elk Falls, Kansas.  He preceded her in death in 1978.  She later married George Barnaby, and he preceded her in death in 1987.  She moved to Neodesha in 1988.

Neva was a member of the Elk Falls United Methodist Church and attended both the Neodesha Methodist Church and the Bible Baptist Church.  Sh was a member of Nota Bena Reading Club in Ek Falls and the Friendly 14 in Longton, Kansas.  She had served as a 4-H leader at Elk Falls where she taught cooking classes to 4-H members.  She was also named as the Resident of the Year at the Golden Keys Nursing Home.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Hudson and her husband Mike of Neodesha, Kansas; one stepson, Bill Barnaby and his wife Caryl of Longton, Kansas; one stepdaughter, Velva Hoyt and her husband Jack of Longton, Kansas; one sister, Ruth Royse of Herington, Kansas; one brother, Neal Osborn and his wife Phyllis of Longton, Kansas; three grandchildren, Rob Fairbanks, Dr. Rachel Duncan and her husband Tim, and Jeff Hudson and his wife Glenda; and step-grandchildren, Sherrie DePriest and her husband Steve, Sara Appling and her husband Kevin, Sally Barnaby, and Dr. Brad Hoyt and his wife Leslie.  In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at the Elk Falls United Methodist Church in Elk Falls, Kansas under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel.  Interment will be in Elk Falls Cemetery.  Friends and family are invited to gather at the Church Hall next to the church from noon until service time to share memores and a meal. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society and may be left with the funeral home.
