The Howard Troop enjoyed three days of camping on the Chester Miller farm near the head of Elk river the last three days of July.  The time was spent in swimming in the springfed pools, playing ball, hiking, passing tests, singing and story-telling around the evening campfire, to say nothing of the cooking, and dishwashing of which all had a big part.
Rev. Rank Johnson gave an interesting talk at the Sunday evening campfire service.  Another highlight at camp was Mrs. Chester Miller's surprising the troop with a huge platter of friend chicken, Monday noon.
Sixteen Boy Scouts and four Scouters attended camp at least part time.  Twelve boys and their Scoutmaster attended the full three days.  Those Scouts attending camp were: Ardean Wood, Lee Gill, Bill Adams, Jimmie Cooley, Wayne Force, Bob VanBuskirk, Ellis Staley, Otis Steeby, Junior Steeby, Bob Redmond, DuWayne Hinkle, Frank Young, Robert Carter, Charles Clark, Norman Perrill and Paul Bryant.  Scouters in attendance were Rev. Johnson, A.B. Clark, Advancement Chairman; Jesse Barger, assistant Scoutmaster and Harold Anderson, Scoutmaster.  Other visitors were: Chester Miller and Frank Leo.  The boys are looking forward to camping again next summer.
