Marcia, do you know where Antioch was?

My Delorme Maps shows an Antioch in Miami County about 140 miles from Busby.

That would be a long way to drag something, though.

Thanks to both, I was just curious.

By the way, Busby is still shown on both Microsoft Streets and Trips and Delorme Maps as is Western Park.

When I was in High School at Howard, virtually every year some of us would skip school and go to Busby, stop at the artesian well at the Busby School then  to Sprague's store and have a pop and candy bar, then go to cave springs for a drink of water. The good old days.

Fred was born and raised at Busby and lived his entire time in the house where he was born-  It was the second house on the east side of the road from the Busby Store.  His Grandparents, his Mother and her four siblings-His father and his siblings Fred and his siblings all went to school at the Busby school.  The well was dug by Fred's Grandfather McDonald with the help of others in the community - there was one in the well house at the "Home place"...and that water was sooooooo cold and it tested then and still does to this day as 99.80 % pure.  We always hauled our drinking water from the Busby school house well in the summer months when we lived in Elk County - AND since the water here at the Elk City State Park is still not safe to drink...We drive to Busby EVERY WEEK and bring back 15 gallon of wonderful pure water for our use.  Fred and I lived at the home place when we were first married and I had never lived in a home that had "running water"  We had a small pitcher pump in the kitchen, and for the first time in my life, I didn't have to "draw water from a well" to use in the house or to do chores.  I thought that was pretty nifty.
I'll tell you a little thing about the candy bars at Warren Sprague's store.  We didn't have hardly any money for anything other than the regular things.  But one day I went with Fred on the Propane truck - and since we were still newlyweds, he stopped at the store on our way and bought us each a bottle of pop and a Snickers candy  bar.  We stopped at the customer's house to fill a tank, and I couldn't wait--I unwrapped my candy bar and wolfed it down...Fred got back in the truck, and unwrapped his, and looked at it and said "Where's yours"?  I told him I had already eaten it -- and he said "Did it look like this on"?  "Yes".  Well, it was covered with little tiny holes -- and was full of worms.  Good Lord...I couldn't believe it ... Too Late, mate - it was already in my tummy -- and since I didn't get candy very often, I just thought -- oh well, I hope it doesn't make me sick, and it didn't.  He has never let me forget that.
IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER....
THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!
