I should be in bed, but Kjell has turned this forum over to me totally.
I have made this my special project, because I think that Howard ( the town that I love) needs this place.
And since I never do anything half way, so there might be some changes coming along.
If they don't work.. then they don't work. But we will never know unless we try. ;)

I decided that maybe a recipe board would be fun to have.
So this is the place folks, to share all those yummy good secrets from your kitchen.
I know that everyone has recipes of family favorites that they can share.
I know that I do.
And everyone also has old family natural remedies for healing that is nice to share also.
So lets get at it...

I can feel the pounds start on me already..
Yummy... I Luuuuve to cook.

and better than that..
I Luuuve to eat!

Bring 'em on.

Well---- I will tell this little "gem" about something we keep in our medicine cabinet all the time.
It is Preparation H   -- Yep  that is just what I intended to write.
Years ago when I was in the hair dressing business one of my "ladies"  Judy Clark, told me that her Doctor had told her to use this product on any open sore that the healing quality was fast and very good.  So I bought a tube that very day and have used it ever since.  Often times I would cut the skin between my fingers while cutting a client's hair - and out came the Tube!
Now THE STORY.  When Danny was going to Emporia State His parents Mark and Teresa decided to put in an Outlet store in Howard..The Hardware store closed at 5...and I got out of the Beauty Salon and the rest of the family were all  there putting out stock so the store could be opened.
One week-end Danny was home from college and we were all there working away and Danny says, " Boy, Grandma, I have the sorest chapped lips"...Soooooo Granny to the rescue~I said just a minute, got the tube of Preparation H from my purse and was going to apply some to his lip.  About this time, Mark looked up and said "Run, Dan, Grandma is going to put "Ass Jam"  on your lip.
Dan took off - and needless to say I did not catch him to administer my Magic Healing cream.
To this day that is what we call this product.  I have told it so many times to friends and the other day Fred went to a ENT Dr. and had a skin cancer removed - I told him and he laughed so hard and said "Well, I can tell you right now, that is what it will be called in my home from now on.  He too recommends it for healing any small open wound.
Try it friends -- it really does work!!
IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER....
THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED!

When I had my hysterectomy, Dr. Empson told me that Prep H was the best healer for incisions
and cuts etc that there ever was.  The reason being is that it acts as a vasoconstrictor, shrinking
and relieving the swelling in whatever area that it is applied to.

I laughed all day yesterday about Jo's Ass Jam story, but I do have a remedy for fever blisters. Have Danny take a Lysine tablet (1,000 mg) daily and he won't get them. But if he's like most people and forgets to take the tablets, have him start popping 1,000 mg of Lysine three times a day when he feels the tingle in his lips that signals the onset of a breakout. The blister will be less severe.

Lysine can be bought at some grocery stores, all health food stores and, of course, online. Here is a link for them at amazon.

I have never had a fever blister....(knock on wood)

No worries for me!!

Teresa

No.. it wasn't a fever blister that he had..
I modified my mothers post and changed it ..
It was chapped lips that he had... but Mom still wanted to put Prep H on them
and he still run like hell and wouldn't let her. :D
