Dale Raymond Brenner, 63, of Howard passed away Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita.

Dale was born on March 14, 1944 ten miles south of Leon, Kan., to Earl and Myrtle Burris Brenner.  Dale was a graduate of Howard High School and earned an Associates degree from Independence Community College.

In March of 1966 Dale was called into duty to serve his country for the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Dale was a perimeter guard, a convoy truck driver, and was specially trained to make modifications to the M48A1 tanks.  Dale received the Vietnam SErvice Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Marksman (Rifle M-14) Badge.

On May 1, 1980 Dale married Julia Cox Trefethen in Howard and she survives at the home.  Dale attended the United Methodist Church in Howard.  He was a member of the American Legion Carter-Rader Post #149, member of the Machinist at Boeing Aircraft, and a loyal member of the Morning Coffee Group.

For years Dale farmed the land with his father.  Dale also worked for the local feed store and elevators as well as the oil fields.  In March of 1987 Dale went to work for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita and worked until July 2001.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy.

He is survived by his wife Julia, one step-son Denis Trefethen and his wife Jeanne of Burden, one son Eric Brenner and one daughter Janna Brenner both of Howard, one sister Sally Schwab and her husband Doug of Scottsdale, Ariz., and one step grandson Jonathan Austin.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Howard United Methodist Church.  Visitaiton will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday at the church.  Interment with military honors will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery.

Family suggests contributions to either the American Heart Association or Harry Hynes Hospice and may be sent to Countryside Funeral Home P. O. Box 247, Fredonia, KS 66736.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Brenner is survived by a stepson, Denis Trefethen, Burden; a son, Eric Brenner, Howard; a daughter, Janna Brenner, Howard; a sister, Sally Schwab, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and a stepgrandson.
