Under the Heading:  Local Notices:

     The great bill to equalize bounties, has passed congress.  It provides that all soldiers, sailors, mariners, including non-commissioned officers, musicians, artificers, waggoners, slaves or Indians, who were mustered into the service of the United States, between April 12, 1861, and May 9th, 1865; and who were honorably discharged, shall receive $8.33 1-3 per month; deduction all bounties heretofore paid by the United States.  If the soldier is dead, the bounty is to be paid to his widow, if she has not remarried; if so then to be paid to his child or children if minors.  The bill also includes the seven Missouri regiments mustered into the service and who served three years as home guards.  All persons entitled under this act, can have their claim promptly collected by applying to Fullenwider & Buchfield, authorized claim atgents, Long, Kansas.
