OSBORN, Lucy May (Small) - b. March 22, 1895 - d. June 18, 1895

Lucy May Osborn, 90, of Elk Falls, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 18, 1985, at the Elk Manor Nursing Home, Moline.  She was born March 22, 1895, in Cave Springs, Kansas to Prentice Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Morgan) Small, the youngest of four daughters. 

Lucy taught school for several years in Elk County, Kansas and Texas County, Oklahoma. On June 4, 1919, she and Frank Byron Osborn were united in marriage. To this union three children were born. After Frank's discharge from the United States Navy, they homesteaded in Baca County, Colorado.  In January of 1921, they returned to Elk Falls where they spent the remainder of their lives.  In 1979 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Frank preceded her in death on November 16, 1980.

Lucy was a member of the United Methodist Church since a small girl and was currently a member of the Elk Falls congregation.  She was also a member of the Nota Bene Reading Club of Elk Falls until it was disbanded.

Survivors include one son, Neal Osborn of Elk Falls; two daughters, Neva Lea Barnaby of Longton, Kansas and Ruth Royse of Elk City, Kansas; five grandchildren, Lyneva Bryan, Connie Fairbanks, Cheryl Dornes, Frank Osborn, and Fred Osborn; five great grandchildre, Jeremy Bryan, Justin Bryan, Robbie Fairbanks, Cory Dornes, and Jenni Bryan; and a host of other friends and other relatives. 

Funeral services were held Friday, June 21, 1985, at 2:00p.m. in the Elk Falls United Methodist Church. Interment was in the Elk Falls Cemetery. Rev. Jan Hayden , of the Flint Hills United Methodist Parrish, officiated.  Watt Funeral Home, Mline, was in charge of arrangements. A memorial to the Elk Falls United Methodist Church has been established in her name.
