Howard High School, Class of 1938, H.S. Auditorium, Sunday

The program as printed in the local papers of May 18 and 19, was rendered very nearly as announced.  Despite a heavy downpour of rain an enthusiastic audience gathered to hear the message.  The school orchestra played the processional for the march of the graduates, the Class of 1938, the Fifty-first class to be graduated by the Howard High school.  The invocation was offered by Rev. Jas. S. Bunch of the Howard Baptist church, "To Spring," by Grieg, flute solo by Miss Marjorie Rader, accompanied by Miss Griggs, followed.

Rev. H. R. Weed, pastor of the Howard Methodist Episcopal church delivered the sermon which was on the subject of The Challenge of Great Opportunity.  His discourse is very highly spoken of by attentive listeners in the audience.   The vocal numbers were given informally by the glee club and the audience.

The concluding exercises of the 51st commencement will be held tonight, May 26, at the auditorium, with the Rev. Joe Riley Burns, of Wichita, as the guest speaker, subject of his address has not been announced.
