This is a picture of the old Union Center school house that was located west of Howard, that has been moved into town and is now part of the museum.  This is located on North Wabash.

The second picture is of the old Soveriegn Service station, that is now part of the museum complex.

Third picture is the Mittie Davis house, which is another part of the museum complex.

Readers, I am having lots of problems of getting several pictures taken of Howard, posted today for some reason, so guess I may as well give it a rest and try again later.  (Nothing wants to work right)  Ta Ta ----where's your hammers you were talking about the other day that are made in Moran?

There are some nice pictures of the Moline area on their beautiful website:  http://www.molinekansas.com/

And Grenola has a wonderful and informative site as well:

Please check back some other time for additional pics.  Thanx!

I've got pictures from around town. Did you want me to post them? Some are buildings, some are just scenes.

If you don't mind........I think that would be great! :) I'll take you up on that offer!  Thanks!

I just thought it would be nice to have them on for the benefit of those who live out of the area.  The pictures that we took were of the Cox Bldg., High School, Benson Museum, Gragg Museum, Mittie Davis house, and Service station.

This one is of the Benson museum. It's on the corner of Wabash and Adams St. (Across the street from Lannings Auto parts.)

The one below it is of the Gragg Memorial museum. It's located on Washington Street, just 1/2 block east of Wabash.

The third picture is that of the Cox Community Bldg.  Location- northwest corner of Wabash and Washington

Last picture is the West Elk High School, located on Hi-way 99, just south of Howard.

Here are two pictures of the gas station on the northeast corner of Wabash and Washington.

The Howard post office - on Randolph, just a block east of Wabash -

Here's another one of the Union School. I like it because it has the water tower in the background.

Great pics!!!  Thanks for posting those!

Don's uncle and grandfather used to own and operate that service station until the early 1950s. And I can remember when the Post Office used to be where the Family Market is now.  As a small child when I went into the post office, I can remember when they kept iron bars over the clerk's window, and I used to be intimidated by that.  It's like they were expecting a robbery at any minute.

At one time, I resided in the Mittie Davis house.  This was before it was bought by the Benson Museum Historical Society.
