William Louis "Bill" Clifton, 83, died Friday at Howard Twilight Manor.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Moline Cemetery.

Friends may call at Zimmerman Funeral Home Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Howard Twilight Manor, and they may be left with the funeral home.

Mr. Clifton was born on Jan. 13, 1924 in Long, Okla., to Tolbert and Arminta (Briggs) Clifton.

On June 24, 1949 he married Dorothy Mead in Wichita, and she died in 2006.

Mr. Clifton served in the United States Army during World War II.  He worked as a welder for the Gas Service Company in Wichita, and attended the Howard Independent Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons; Robert and James, both of Wichita, Kenneth of Germany, Charles of Locust Grove, Okla., and Michael of Lansing; three daughters; Victoria Darrow, Rolla, Mo., Karen Dirksen, Woden, Iowa, and Clarissa Flora, Valley Center; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

William "Bill" Louis Cliffton, 83, passed away Friday, April 13, 2007 at the Howard Twilight Manor in Howard.  William was born on Jan. 13, 1924 in Long, Okla., to Tolbert and Arminta Briggs Clifton.  On June 25, 1949 William married Dorothy Mead in Wichita and she preceded him in death on March 21, 2006.

During World War II, William served his country for the United States Army.  During his working years William worked as a welder for the Gas Service Company in Wichita.  William attended the Howard Independent Baptist Church.

Williams is survived by five sons; Robert and James both of Wichita, Kenneth of Germany, Charles of Locust Grove, Okla., and Michael of Lansing, Kan.  Three daughters; Victoria Darrow of Rolla, Mo., Karen Dirksen of Woden, Iowa, and Clarissa Flora of Valley Center, Kan.  Twenty three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Cecil and Stanley "Bud" and one sister Elva.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 19, at the Moline Cemetery, Moline.  Friends may call on the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 to 9 p.m.  The family suggests contributions to the Howard Twilight Manor and may be left in ccare of the funeral home.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zimmerman Funeral Home.
