Mary Lou Cochran, age 89, formerly of Moline, Kansas, passed away September 7, 2023 at Covenant Care Senior Living in Wichita, Kansas.  She was born June 23, 1934 in Grenola, Kansas to Charles and Madge (Hurt) De Moss. 

Mary Lou grew up in Grenola alongside her brother, Charles, graduating from Grenola High School.  On De cember 13, 1952, she married Julian Cochran in Moline, Kansas where they called home for the rest of their lives.  They raised one son, Gary, and were married 55 years until the passing of Julian in 2018.

Mary Lou worked at Elk Manor Nursing Home in Moline, Kansas, starting on the floor as a nurse's aide and retiring 35 years later as Medical Records Administrator.  When she wasn't working there, she was working alongside her husband, Julian, helping him raise cattle, growing a garden, and driving the grain truck during wheat harvest.  In her spare time, especially after retiring, Mary Lou enjoyed being a member of the Moline United Methodist Church and the Music and Litereary Club in Moline.

Mary Lou is survived by her son, Gary of Wichita, Kansas; nieces, Marcella Edwards and Carolyn Musgrove; and nephews, Steve Welch, Bradley De Moss, and Craig De Moss.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Julian; her brother, Charles; and an infant sister, Bertha Marie.

A memorial service to honor Mary Lou will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349 has been entrusted with arrangements.
