Margaret Fern McLean of Eureka, Kansas passed away on July 24, 2023 at the Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka, Kansas at the age of 93.  She was born on March 15, 1930 in Severy, Kansas, the daughter of Loren Vearl and Helena Geneva (Fox) Hurt.

Margaret was raised in Fall River, Kansas on the family farm and attended Severy schools, graduating from Severy High School.  On March 27, 1948, Margaret was united in marriage to Robert Allen "Bob" McLean in Eureka.  They made their home in Severy for a short time before moving to Kansas City.  To this union, two children were born.  They lived in Kansas City until 1957 when they moved to Olathe, Kansas. 

Margaret was a foreman at the Swingster Company which made sporting goods and promotional items.  She and Bob retired to Eureka in the early 1990s.  They loved to travel, and in their retirement, they went to Utah, Colorado, and Arizona.  They sometimes spent the entire summer traveling around seeing the sights. 

Margaret is survived by one son, Kenneth McLean of Eureka, Kansas; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Dean of Corpus Christi, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob on May 26, 2018; her son, Douglas Eugene McLean; and one sister, Shirley Lakin.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church, 521 N. Main Street, Eureka, Kansas with Pastor Linda Pope officiating .  Cremation has been effected.  Inurnment will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Dhurch of Eureka. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045 which has been entrusted with arrangements.
