Kathry "Jan" Kelly, age 85, of Severy, Kansas, passed away on November 8, 2021 at Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka, Kansas.  She was born February 22, 1936 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Joe and Grace (Goodman) Holland.

Jan graduated high school and then attended Oklahoma A&M University in Stillwater,  Oklahoma.  She married Gene Kelly in Bartlesvile, Oklahoma on September 21, 1957.  Together they had one son, Ken, and spent 59 years together until his passing in November 2016.

Jan worked for Phillips 66 in Oklahoma for several years and then Forbes Law Firm in Eureka after she and Gene moved to Kansas where they settled on the Wine Glass Ranch in Elk County.  Jan worked hard, whether it was at her town job or on the ranch helping raise the Hereford cattle and fixing lunch for the ranch hands.  When her granddaughters came along, she got even busier making their costumes for every occasion and holiday there was along with taking them to church with her on Sunday.

In her free time, Jan was a member of the Severy United Methodist Church, was active teaching Sunday School and Bible School, was in the Garden Club, on the Howard State Bank board, in KLA, and part of the Kansas Cow Bells before it became Cattlewomen.  She never held back telling you how it was, but she would be there to help you out if you needed it.

Jan is survived by her son, Ken of Severy, Kansas; her granddaughters, Kactus (Miles) Bidwell and Kanyon (Cutter) Cole, all of Severy, Kansas; and great-grandchildren, Kash Bidwell, Konlee Bidwell, and Kalloway Cole.

Visitation for Jan will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at the Severy United Methodist Church in Severy, Kansas.  Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery in Severy, Kansas.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Severy United Methodist Church and can be mailed to or left with the funeral home.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
