Jack Wayne Ellis, 75, of Caldwell, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Olmstead, Kentucky on October 31, 1944 to John Edward and Ida Ester Ellis.

At the age of four, Jack's family moved to Moline, Kansas where he attended school and graduated from Moline High School in 1962.  In July 1965, he enlisted in the United States Army.  After completing basic training in Fort Lewis, Washington, Jack served in Vietnam as a Turbine Helicopter Mechanic in the 161st Aviation Company, 14th Battalion, 17th Group, where he served as Crew Chief.  He was honorably discharged in May 1967 after serving nearly two years.  During his service to our country, Jack was awarded several medals and commendations.

After returning home from Vietnam, Jack began a career as a boiler maker, traveling across the southern United States, mainly focusing on the welding of large petroleum tanks and water towers.  In 2002, he married his wife, Vera (Stanly) Ellis.  They were married until her death in the summer of 2019.

Jack is survived by his brothers, Doug (Karlita) Ellis of Elkton, Kentucky; his children, Gene (Sharon) Ellis of Belton, Texas, Robin (Travis) Hofstra of Spring, Texas, and Ryan (Tristan) Ellis of North Liberty, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Courtney, Brandon, Loren, Cody, Brittany, Emily, Braden, and Kallen; and three great-grandchildren, Jared, Bryson, and Sophia.  Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Vera; his parents, John and Ida; and six of his seven brothers, Bob, John, Bill, E.W., Horace, and Ben Gary.

Services for Jack will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598 on Saturday, October 17, 2020.  The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service and graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Jack Ellis to ASCPA (www.aspca.org/ways-to-give) or the 100 Club of Central Texas (www.100clubcentex.com/support-us)
