Sarah Jane South, age 30, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2020.  She was born August 13, 1989 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Ricky South and Linda Sue Batiah Nachmis.

Sarah was proud of her small-town roots in Longton, Kansas and her big city life in Denver, Colorado.  She graduated high school as an Elk Valley High School Lion in Longton, Kansas in 2008 and then as a Pittsburg State Gorilla in Pittsburg, Kansas with a degree in Construction Management in 2013. 

She was a project engineer at RK Steet.  She was a vibrant, beautiful, strong, courageous, and outgoing woman who shared her life with partner, Jonathan Cole in Colorado.  She loved spending time with her family, friends, and pets hiking, climbing, skiing in the mountains, trying new food, traveling, attending concerts, and working on her and Jon's home.  On visits home to Kansas, she fished, rode four wheelers, and helped with farm chores.

Sarah is survived by her loving partner, Jonathan Cole; her parents, Ricky (Norma) South and Linda Sue Batiah Nachmias; Jon's parents, Bob and Janice Cole; grandmother, Rita Easter; sisters, Tabitha Hoke and Crystal Church; brother, Thomas (Nikki) Church; Jon's brother, Frank Cole; stepsister, Stephanie Rummery; stepbrother, Richard "Jim" Rummery; and twelve nieces and nephews.  Sarah joins grandparents, Louis and Lois South and grandfather, Ralph Easter in Heaven.

The family will greet friends at Potts Chapel, 122 S. Penn Avenue, Independence, Kansas 67301 on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Family, friends, and others whose lives Sarah has touched are invited to Oak Valley Cemetery in Oak Valley, Kansas on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. to reminisce, share in the joy that was her life, grieve, and support each other.  In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Sarah can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.
