Roscoe Lee "Ross" Jontra, age 75, of Fredonia, Kansas, died November 11, 2017 at his home.  He was born on December 19, 1941 in Elk Falls, Kansas, the son of Roscoe and Goldie Lee (Barnaby) Jontra.

After high school, Roscoe earned his Bachelor's degree and taught and coached.  He taught for 20 years in Longton, Kansas followed by 20 years in Texas, returning to Kansas where he taught and retired from Fredonia U.S.D. #484 in Fredonia, Kansas.  He was a member of the Grace First Assembly of God Church in Fredonia.

On March 12, 1965, Roscoe married Sharon J. McFadden in Independence, Kansas.  The have been married for 52 years, and she survives at their home.  Roscoe enjoyed woodworking and especially making cedar chests.  Most of all, Roscoe loved being with his family and watching his children and grandchildren grow into their own families.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon; his sons, Eric Jontra and wife, Christina of Tyler, Texas, Jason Jontra of Tyler, Texas, and Stan Jontra and wife, Jenny of Canton, Texas; his daughter, Londa Tindle and husband, Tyler of Fredonia, Kansas; 9 grandchildren, Jackson and Gracen Jontra of Tyler, Texas, Aubrey, Darcey, and Landrey Jontra of Canton, Texas, Jarran Tindle and wife, Joanna of Leonardville, Kansas, Jarrett Gilbert and wife, Jillian of Round Rock, Texas, Michaela Tindle of Emporia, Kansas, Kellen Tindle of Fredonia, Kansas, and Annette and Thomas Tindle of Leonardville, Kansas.  Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lawrence Jontra; and his granddaughter, Taylor Jontra.

The family will be having a memorial visitation at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Grace First Assembly of God Church, 1102 Washington, Fredonia, Kansas with Pastor Ray Pile officiating.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 420 S. 20th Street, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
