Don't Ask . . . .

While at my local FedEx today, an employee came in to work at noon. "He" was about my height, build, and weight. But unlike me, he had very long hair, bright red lipstick, and a dress. When I asked the clerk I was with whether the employee was a man or a woman, his response was silence and a lowered head. When I repeated my question I got the same response. When I asked another question I received the same response. This went on and on until I just stopped asking questions. The other employees who heard our exchange all turned away and acted like they were doing something.

What is so shocking to me is what I see happening to the workplace. If a man who thinks he is a woman or a woman who thinks she is a man is employed somewhere, the greatest sin in the workplace, and one that will probably get you fired, is to insinuate that these people you work with are not normal. To make a joke about them or even talk about them will probably get you charged with harassment and disciplined or fired.
