Rebuttal - NRA Article Freedom Fighters . . .

Compatriots,

   The National Rifle Association (NRA) magazine 1st Freedom Feb.2016 edition published an article Freedom Fighters by Dave Kopel which was incorrect and misleading. Posted below is my response that I e-mailed to him (no reply) and to the NRA hopefully to be published in "Mail Call".

Rebuttal-Freedom Fighters Article By Dave Kopel

  I appreciate the work Mr. Kopel has done in defense of the 2nd Amendment however his article Freedom Fighters exhibited gross historical ignorance of the conditions that existed in the former Confederate states of the South during reconstruction. He stated that  America 's first Terrorist Organization and Gun Control Organization was the Ku Klux Klan. This is incorrect. That distinction goes to the Republican Party which was Socialist from 1854 to 1877 much like today's Democratic Party. They confiscated guns from Southerners during and after the war during Reconstruction. Reconstruction was the plunder, pillage, and rape of the Southern states. The first Terrorist Organization was Uncle Sam's UNION LEAGUE. Corrupt Northern Carpetbaggers enrolled large numbers of blacks into this organization and had blacks burning houses, barns, shooting livestock, poisoning wells, committing murder and rape of white Southerners. Some Northerners were so radical and fanatical they wanted to exterminate every white man, woman, and child in the South. The KKK arose as a Police and Resistance Organization to stop the barbaric atrocities of the UNION LEAGUE. After the KKK forced the tyrannical, despotic, and dictatorial UNION LEAGUE Carpetbaggers out of the South they disbanded. These facts apply only to the original KKK 1867-1877.
