George L. Walker, 75, of Abilene died Jan. 18, 2007, at Memorial Hospital in Abilene.

He was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Moline, the son of Ray and Clara (Naut) Walker. He was reared in Moline and graduated from Moline High School.  He graduated from Independence Community College and attended Kansas State University.  H was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Navy.  Mr. Walker was a licensed surveyor in Kansas for Wilson and Company Engineers and Architects for 35 years before retiring.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel, of Abilene, three sons, Mike of Pell city Ala., Jeffo Abilene, and Timm of Prairie Village; one daughter, Donna Walker of Milton-Freewater, Ore., one stepdaughter, Sharon Lewis of Rosemond, Calif., one sister, Mary Taylor of Moline; two brothers, Kenneth Walker of Moline, Jack Walker of Kansas City, Mo., seven grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday Jan. 22, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Abilene with Father Mark Wesely officiating.  Burial was in Mount St. Joseph Cemetery, Abilene.
