Leonard "Haskell" Funk Sr. was born on June 7, 1939 in Shattuck, Oklahoma, the baby of six children.  He departed this life on October 28, 2015 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 76.  Haskell, the son of Leonard Amos and Julia Estelle (Leist) Funk, was a resident of Howard, Kansas.

Haskell grew up in and attended school in Gage, Oklahoma.  At the age of 17, he entered the United States Navy for a short time.  In 1959, he entered the construction field, advancing to an accomplished pipefitter/welder working for several companies across the United States.

In 1968, Haskell married Jackie Patterson.  To this union, Leonard Jr., Charlie, and Sara Ann Funk were born.  On July 2, 1992, Haskell married Joann Dolores McCormick in Fredonia, Kansas  To this union came Sheila, Wenonna, Brenda, and Troy.  Joann survives in Howard where they enjoyed 23 years with their 7 children, 45 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Leonard Haskell Funk was a compassionate, patient, loving person who devoted his time to making memories for his family to last for generations.  Our hearts are forever engraved with the love he shared.  Thank you for sharing in his life.  He loved us dearly.

In addition to his wife, Joann, Haskell is survived by his children,  Sheila and husband, Chris Terrell of Prague, Oklahoma, Wenonna and husband, Kevin Freeman of Sedan, Kansas, Brenda Miles and husband, Danny of Oakview, California, Troy and wife, Lynn McCormick of Athen, Iowa, Leonard H. Funk Jr. and wife, Melissa (Graves) of Decatur, Arkansas, Charles "Charlie" Funk and Dorinda of Fredonia, Kansas; and Sara Edwards and husband, Chris of Olympia, Washington; sisters, Bonita Dunnihoo of Shattuck, Oklahoma, Colleen Miller of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Nadine Marshall of Wayside; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends he called family.  Haskell was preceded in death by his father, Leonard; his mother, Julia; his brother, Calvin Funk; and his sister, Carolyn Null.

Funeral services were held on November 5, 2015 at Garden Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Prague, Oklahoma with Brother Charlie Clem and Brother Chris Terrell (son-in-law) officiating.  Interment was at Garden Grove Cemetery in Prague.  Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.  A guestbook is available to share your memories at www.ParksBrothers.net.
