Mary Belle Hopper-Verbeck, age 87, formerly of Moline, Kansas, passed away on March 10, 2015 in LaMesa, California.  Belle was born the daughter of Myron Mason and Marie (Munsey) Connor on March 24, 1927 in Grenola, Kansas.

Belle attended schools in the Grenola area and graduated from Grenola High School in 1945.  She was united in marriage to Marvin Hopper on August 30, 1947.  The couple resided in Moline, Kansas and was blessed with two sons.  Marvin preceded her in death.  She later married Harold Verbeck on June 14, 1974, and he, too, preceded her in death.  She owned and operated Belle's Beauty Shop in Moline and was a member of the Moline United Methodist Church.  Belle was a loving wife and mother, and her niece stated that "Aunt Belle was the kindest, nicest, and most gracious person I've ever known, and it was an honor to be a part of her family."

Belle is survived by a son, Calvin Hopper of Riverside, California; her brother-in-law, Henry "Bud" Beechner of Moline, Kansas; her niece, Kathleen List of Waterbury, Connecticut; and her nephews, Rick Beechner of Moline, Kansas and Mitchell Connor of Brookfield, Connecticut.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Marvin and Harold; her son, Mark Hopper; her sister, Norma Beechner;  her brothers, Richard "Dick" Connor and John "Buzz" Connor; and her sister-in-law, Anne Marie Connor.

Graveside memorial services will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Moline Cemetery in Moline, Kansas.  Family suggests memorials to the Moline United Methodist Church which may be mailed to the funeral home.  Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349 is in charge of arrangements.
