John Harold McKinley, age 53, of Cedar Vale, Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at his home in Cedar Vale.  He was born September 14, 1961 in Winfield, Kansas to Franklin "Bud" McKinley and Patricia Ann "Pat" (Howell) McKinley.

John graduated from Cedar Vale High School in the Class of 1979.  He was a lifetime resident of the Cedar Vale area.  He worked for the City of Cedar Vale for many years and also had odds and end jobs as a ranch hand. 

On August 3, 1981, John married Mitzi Lynn Myers in Cedar Vale, Kansas. They made their home in Cedar Vale for most of their married life.  Mitzi preceded him in death on September 5, 2013.  He was a member of the Cedar Vale Rural Fire Department.  He also enjoyed working on vehicles and was very family-oriented.

John is survived by one son, John Humphrey of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Debbie Stone of Cedar Vale, Kansas, Amber Corbett of Moffat, Colorado, and Katie Boyle of Cedar Vale, Kansas; his mother, Patricia Ann McKinley of Cedar Vale, Kansas; one sister, Rene McKinley of Cedar Vale, Kansas; one brother, Bill McKinley of Cedar Vale, Kansas; and nine grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, his father, and one grandson.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at the Longshed in Cedar Vale.  The family has suggested memorials to the People's Place in Cedar Vale and may be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
