Shirley Jean Posch, 74, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, Kansas.  She was born September 10, 1940 in Mt. Hope, Kansas, the daughter of Neil and Betty (Rogers) Austin.

Shirley was a graduate of Severy High School in Severy, Kansas.  During her school years, she was very active in 4-H, especially showing grand champion short-horned cattle at the county fair and at the American Royal in Kansas City. 

In 1958, Shirley was united in marriage to Ray Joslin.  Ray was killed in a tragic trucking accident 40 days following their wedding.  On September 29, 1959 in Fredonia, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Herman E. Posch.  He preceded her in death December 16, 2002.

Shirley was retired from Airosol in Neodesha, Kansas after 30 years of work.  She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Fredonia.  She was also a past member of Helpful Neighbors Club and the Sacred Heart Altar Society.

Shirley's survivors include her daughters, Betty (Roger) Wambsganss of Fredonia, Kansas and Frances (Marcus) Martinez of Wamego, Kansas; her brothers, Wayne Austin of Benton, Kansas, Dale Austin of El Dorado, Kansas, and Eldon Austin of Eureka, Kansas; her sisters, Evelyn Driskel of Cherryvale, Kansas and Karen Brown of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Piatt, Tierra Wambsgansss, Tianne Wambsganss, Darrin Valdivia, Uzziel Martinez, Eliezer Martinez, Shelby Posch, and Caitlin Posch; and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, Harold Posch; and one daughter, Rita Campbell.

A rosary and prayer service will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Friday evening, January16, 2015 at Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas followed by funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Church, 428 N. 12th Street, Fredonia, Kansas with Father Stephen Thapwa officiating.  The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Timmons Funeral Home.
