Destruction of US Healthcare and How to Fight Back

What are the two false beliefs that figure prominently in the way modern US healthcare has been constructed?

Number one is the belief that the market can't work in healthcare. In fact, the market works very well in healthcare as long as third-party payers are not involved. Wherever there's no Blue Cross, no Medicare and no employer, you probably have a market that works very well. That would include, for example, the market for cosmetic surgery, the market for laser eye surgery, online pharmaceutical mail houses and walk-in clinics. The other false belief is the idea that patients can't make good decisions on their own behalf. In fact, there's a lot of evidence that when patients are managing their own care the results are better than when conventional doctors do it. And there's also evidence that if they're allowed to manage the dollars that pay for that care that they make good decisions.
