Richard Arthur Weaver, age 65, a resident of rural Elk City, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at his home.  He was born on February 18, 1949 in Elk City, Kansas, the son of Everett Dean and Mary Charlotte (Lewis) Weaver.

On June 5, 1970, Richard was united in marriage to Cynthia JoAnn "Cindy" Guyot in Longton, Kansas.  For 20 years, he worked as the Maintenance Supervisor for the Elk County Courthouse in Howard, Kansas.  He was a 40 year member of the Jehovah's Witness.  He loved people and enjoyed sharing the Bible's message and making people smile.  Richard was seldom seen without a smile on his face, and he didn't know a stranger.  He enjoyed doing electrical work, working on his farm, gardening, mowing, and taking his dog for a ride on the Gator.

Richard is survived by his wife, Cindy Weaver of the home; one son, Richard Weaver of Bells, Texas; daughters, Dorinda Carlson of Howard, Kansas, Kimberly Brace of Palm Harbor, Florida, Amanda Pickett of Longton, Kansas, Melissa Starrett of Cherryvale, Kansas, and Emily Treibel of Palm Harbor, Florida; brothers, Glennis Weaver of Moline, Kansas and Ray Weaver of Independence, Kansas; sisters Marjorie Schulze of Independence, Kansas and Lura Chavez of Moses Lake, Washington; 11 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Don Weaver; and one sister, Ruth Cargile.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Elk Valley High School Gymnasium in Longton, Kansas with interment to follow at Longton Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, September 26, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
