Connie M. McClure, 58, formerly of Leon, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at her home in Howard, Kansas.  She was born December 6, 1955 in El Dorado, Kansas, the daughter of P.W. "Bud" and Edna Bevan Cross.

Connie graduated from Leon High School in Leon, Kansas.  She was united in marriage to James McClure on February 26, 2005.  She was a homemaker and a CNA working at several nursing homes and hospitals in the are.  She enjoyed fishing and four-wheeling with her grandchildren.  She also loved to golf.  Connie loved edverybody she came in contact with.

Survivors include her husband, James, of the home; mother, Edna Cross of Leon, Kansas; children, Danny (Sara) Philipi of Topeka, Kansas, Melissa Stanfield (fiance, Kyle Baker) of Rosalia, Kansas, James H. (Amy) McClure of Douglass, Kansas, and Jessica (Chad) Towns of Colorado; sisters, Vicki (Jim) Harke of Leon, Kansas and Barbara (Terry Wilson) of Harper, Kansas; brother, Carrol "Butch" (Susan) Cross of Beaumont, Texas; grandchildren, Bryson and Lee Philipi, Logan, Gage, and Keither McClure, Tallon Martin, Dax Kye, and Tate and Taylor Towns; and her beloved pet, Buddy.  She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Victor and Carl; and her grandparents.

Graveside service was held on September 23, 2014 at the Leon Cemetery in Leon, Kansas.  A memorial has been established with the Humane Society.  Condolences may be sent to www.carlsoncolonial.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado, Kansas.
