Irene Marie Guyot of Elk City, Kansas, age 96, died Monday, September 15, 2014 at Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas.  Irene was born on June 10, 1918 in Jenks, Oklahoma, the daughter of Richard Levi and Dona Stella (Taber) Jones.

After high school, Irene married Francis Eugene Guyot on February 29, 1936 in Newkirk, Oklahoma.  She worked alongside Francis on the farm and raising their family, and she also worked for Boeing.  Irene was very active in the community working with various clubs and community events.  She was a several year member of the Order of Eastern Star and also served as Worthy Matron in 1992.  She was very artistic, and she loved working with crafts and making quilts.  Irene also like to travel to different countries and go on cruises.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Cindy Weaver and husband, Richard of Elk City, Kansas; ten grandchildren, Richard D. Weaver, Emily Treibel, Melissa Starrett, Kimberly Bruce, Dorinda Carlson, Amanda Pickett, Deborah Ogden, James Guyot, John Guyot, and Larry Guyot; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great grandchild.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis; her son, Walter E. Guyot;  her daughter, Karen Kay Guyot; her great-grandson, Travis Guyot; and her great-great-granddaughter, Madison Ogden. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas with burial to follow at the Douglass Cemetery in Douglass, Kansas. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Memorials have been suggested to the American Lymphoma Association and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Services are entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, Howard, Kansas 67349.
