Herby J. House, 67, a longtime resident of the Wichita and Douglass, Kansas areas and formerly of Howard, Kansas, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Robert Dole VA Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.  He was born November 23, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Henry E. and June Bell (Clark) House.

Herby was a graduate of Howard High School and attended Pittsburg State University.  He joined the United States Navy from April 1, 1966 to April 9, 1969 serving two tours in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee.  Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Cessna for many years. In his spare time, Herby enjoyed attending auctions and loved the rural outdoor life.

Herby's survivors include one son, Larry A. House of Wichita, Kansas; one grandson, Toby House of Wichita, Kansas;  and two sisters, Donna (Donald) Nelson of Mulvane, Kansas and Peggy (John) Williamson of Lyons, Kansas.  His parents, Henry and June House, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at Timmons Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas with Reverend Gene Benefiel of the Buxton Christian Church officiating.  Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery with military rites.  A memorial has been established in Herby's name with the AMVETS, and contributions may be sent to or left with the funeral home.  Words of condolence for the family may be left at www.timmonsfuneralhome.com.  Timmons Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th Street, Fredonia, Kansas 66736 is in charge of the arrangements.
