Spending a little time with hunka-hunka for his birthday. We took a little excursion east and down in southern Okla. Spent one day visiting the Chickasaw park in Sulphur, then on to the Chickasaw center for the rest of the day. Interesting history there. Got to see about the oldest flag for me, a United States flag carried into the battle of New Orleans in 1814 by a Chickasaw chief. Time has taken it's toll, but interesting nevertheless. I did not realize that they are such a diverse people. Their DNA must read like the ABC book with some of everything. There were people working at the museum from the tribe whom I would never have guess at being tribal, much less of a certain tribe. Nice place to visit, and I recommend the food at their grill. Very good and reasonably priced too.

We had planned to spend the following day at the Noble museum at Norman on the campus of OU. Somehow we missed our exit because of all the construction on I35, and looking across we would have stuck in dead traffic for many miles had we exited and tried to return. Along with the construction, there had been some kind of accident and traffic was shut totally down. It did not take long for us to decide that Norman was for another day. Had a nice little trip with good windy dry warmish weather all three days. Visited a few casinos, there seems to be one on almost every corner here. Lots more casinos than I have money to spend in them for sure.  ;D

Have not heard all the reports on this incident but there was a shooting in Norman at the college today.  Must have been why all the traffic was back up.  Good thing your plans did not work out.  Glad the rest of the day was fun!

But rather openings where our loved ones,

That shooting turned out to be false, but it did confuse things for awhile.

Six.That was a nice adventure.Glad the shooting wan't anything.
I have a feeling if we could really follow our DNA back a long way we are all a much bigger mix than we think we are.  Bitter cold again here today. 3.7 when I finally gave up my warm spot and got out of bed. Still a lot of snow everywhere, but they were able to plow the roads wide enough to get most schools open today. Our game dinner last night was wonderful. Venison chili followed by pounded flattened goose breast rolled up in prosciutto stuffed with veggies and baked with a reduced balsamic sauce, and wild with white rice with just a bit of soy sauce. My cocoa dessert went over well too.
They just got a  little yellow kitten that was just the cutest thing....demanded lots of attention and climbed up on Al's lap while he was eating and went to sleep.
Al is at a half day conference today, invited by the City of Newark. He is really enjoying being on the city planning board and they seem to enjoy him. Even the public, a group who go to every meeting, have been very complimentary to him and have thanked him for joining the board.
We may be setting up for more snow, gotta keep an eye on it. Stay warm all.

Drat! I peeked out the window and it's still there. 1-3 ''due tomorrow. The whole mideast and north coast is really starting to have problems with frozen pipes, sprinklers and frozen hydrants. Even the new Newark Charter High School had a frozen pipe. The builder is very embarrased. ;)
One of our fire line officers made the mistake of having a sledding accident. Broke several ribs and found out several days later he had a leak in his spleen .Off to surgery he went to have it removed.
I just made a big Buffalo chicken and potato casserole.Should take us right through the weekend.

Got the extra few inches last night.I'm getting cabin fever! Still very cold.
Off to see my eye specialist tomorrow afternoon and bingo early evening, if I can see again by then.  One more week of January to go. It seems extra long this year. No January thaw so far. Stay warm and don't let the trolls get ya. They start hunting for human flesh this time of year. :P

And another dusting for us.Several inches downstate so schools had to be closed again. i cn't imagine how they'll make it all up. Just saw a Bud Clydesdale and new puppy buddy commercial for super bowl.Really cute.

We are enjoying a few hours of above freezing weather. Even have some grass showing here and there. But, the next storm is forming up and will arrive with falling temps. and ice and snow about 3 AM tomorrow morning. Has the potential of being a big one, but is kinda iffy for right here. The school transportation folks are already trying to figure out what to do about school tomorrow.  This winter has been a real nightmare for them. But, our ground hog had to have seen his shadow since the sun was out here this morning. HA!
My neighbors just left for a flight to Florida and then a cruise to the Bahamas. I hate them. ;) I made a big pot of Lima bean soup yesterday. We'll have that for dinner after we come home from the movie. "Gravity" is playing at our neighborhood theater. It sounds like a good one to see on a big screen. Stay warm all.

Gravity was a good  adventure story. No guns, drugs or sex but plenty of heart stopping action. It could actually happen...up to a point.... and the theater is only 10 minutes from home.
Six, I knew I had something I wanted to tell you and then forgot what it was. It finally popped back into my head. I have family in Sulphur. I think Dan and family would be second cousins to me.
Now Al has to decide whether to move the  snow blower back to the garage from the shed. ...or wait and see. Wonder weather is now suggesting 6-8 inches very hard during a very short time. In by 6:00 AM, out by 5:30PM. No, that's not the dry cleaner.  :D I've got a few things to do and then gotta have my Downton Abbey fix later this evening.

I think that whole area of southern Oklahoma got buried with snow today. They are predicting significant snow here on Tuesday, then snow the following Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We need the moisture so bad,  I'm not even going to complain for at least thirty minutes. Keep warm all!  :D :D
