But, but, but... it's for the kids!  I guess those folks doing that study don't care about the kids.  And, red, how dare you post something that demeans a great program... a program that's for the kids.

(Sarcasm off)

All that glitters ain't gold, contrary to what liberal snake oil salesmen would have us believe.

and your solution to children who start out desperately behind is to do what? Some aren't even toilet trained.
I remember very well when LBJ and Nixon, et al , started Head Start, it was a short term experiment and was for poor country kids (share croppers, migrant laborers' kids) and inner city kids, who were spending their early years on the streets. As always ,the ones who didn't do well were truants. Ya can't help a child who isn't there.
I don't care how potentially good a program is ,it will fail if it isn't supported at home.  So go ahead ,give me a realistic conservative solution.... sarcastic... Drown 'em at birth? Forced sterilization? Child work houses? Chain 'em to looms? Hey, maybe Mississippi will BUY 'em for dog food. Good grief.( If Red adds it, I'm always skeptical of the sources.) So home school your kids and stop griping. Then they can be just like you...or some who definitely reaped what they sowed.

Ahhh... LBJ & Nixon... two more victims of government indoctrination who nicely demonstrate their illiteracy by being totally incapable of comprehending constitutional limitations on government in this republic and who sought to increase the scope and control of government at every opportunity by continuing to expand the taxing powers and creating more selective individual subsidies.  Heros of yours?

Honestly, you're such a victim monger that you can't see this discussion is about another over costly government program with questionable outcomes.  Have you ever met  government run wealth transfer program you didn't fully support?  How  about those $200.00 claw hammers the DOD purchases?  Surely that's too much... even for a liberal bureaucrat lover like you.

And not one word from you about Head Start, and again no answers to my questions! Just rambling on about expensive hammers.  What about the outcome? No debate? Ya don't know how? Frankly I think the article was very poorly written and is questionable. The whole bunch of you pick and criticize but never offer solutions... 'cause you don't have any. Me ? A victim monger? I don't even know what that is...something ya sell from a push cart?

Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, FFA, 4-H, Boys State, Girls State, MYF, Little League sports, all better at giving a youngster a good "Head" start than government giveaways. And they are all supported at the local level.  ::) ::) :o :o

Head Start can start as young as age three. Those organizations are all great, but don't help the early childhood kids.

If a three year old needs the government to help them , then their parents need to be shot in the arse with a red rider BB gun.

Uh.I'll get my old one out of the closet. You just wouldn't believe how poor some of the parenting is. Some really little kids are locked out after they get up and the parent goes back to bed. The kid is loose all morning.  I am serious! We had one here a few weeks ago. a lady stopped to scoop up a little one who was wandering down the shoulder of rt. 896. The police were called. It was some time before anyone called the police to report a missing child, who was several miles from home!
