Just a scant five or six weeks after their posh family Christmas vacation in Hawaii — which cost taxpayers more than $7 million, with the president golfing at the hoity-toity Turtle Bay golf resort in Oahu — the Obama family is off to another vacation.

First Lady Michelle Obama plans to vacation in Aspen, Colorado this Presidents' Day weekend, separately from her husband, who will land this evening in West Palm Beach for his own down time with the boys.

According to Aspen newspapers, both Michelle and Vice President Biden are expected on the slopes. The White House has not yet announced the trip, and it's not clear when she will be leaving, though she will presumably go today.

Michelle's separate excursion from the president means that, even as the government prepares to slash spending as the March 1 sequester approaches, taxpayers will be footing the bill for two separate Obama vacations, paying for items like travel and the expensive security and staff entourages that accompany them everywhere.

The White House confirms today that President Barack Obama will be vacationing in Florida this weekend. His wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, will be in Colorado. The two daughters will be with Michelle.

From the White House press gaggle aboard Air Force One:

Earnest confirmed that FLOTUS and her daughters are on a "ski trip out West with family and friends", and won't be with POTUS in Florida this weekend.

While the rest of his family will be skiing, Obama is expected to be hitting the links with golf pros and buddies in Florida.

Vice President Joe Biden and his family, according to the White House, will be in Colorado this weekend on vacation.

Monday is president's day.

From Fox News, First lady's Aspen trip marks 16th vacation in 3 years for Obama family:

First Lady Michelle Obama took her daughters on a ski trip to Aspen over President's Day weekend, the 16th trip the first family has taken since President Obama took office.

Over the past three years, the president, first lady and their daughters Sasha and Malia have vacationed in Europe and Africa, and in various vacation hotspots around the U.S.

                             

They have also traveled multiple times to Chicago, where they lived before the president was elected.

The family has spent every Christmas since taking office in Obama's native Hawaii.

Oh... for the record, the lavish dinner Barry and Michelle ate on Valentine's Day at Minibar, a super-exclusive DC restaurant, cost $900. Interestingly, Keith Koffler at White House Dossier noted that POTUS refrained from indulging in $900 dinners during his reelection campaign. Wouldn't have looked good for his claims of standing by the middle class, so he and Crazy Joe Biden schlepped at hamburger joints and pizza parlors across the US.

Nine hundred dollars for one dinner.... did the president reach deeply into his own wallet to pay for that, or did we?
