Dorothy M. Whiterock, 65, former Winfield, Kansas resident, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.  Born on August 10, 1947 at Pawhuska, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Billy and Mable (Sweet) Corle. 

She was raised and received her education in Pawhuska and later Burden, Kansas.  Dorothy graduated from Grenola, Kansas High School in 1966.  She was united in marriage on December 23, 1966 to Johnnie Whiterock in Burden.  The couple made their home in Winfield, Kansas.. Dorothy was employed at Southwestern College in the kitchen.  She later worked for several nursing homes and care centers in the area.  She retired in 2001 due to her failing health.  Johnnie preceded her in death on October 26, 2008.

She was one of Jehovahs Witnesses and attended the Kingdom Hall in Winfield while her health permitted.  Dorothy loved shopping, going out to eat, traveling, and animals, especially her dog, Tipsy.

Her family includes her brother, Samuel Corle of Winfield, Kansas; her sisters, Barbara VanRoyen and husband, Russell of Moline, Kansas and Billie Jo Aminifar and husband, Majid of Yazd, Iran; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas.  Inurnment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Grenola, Kansas where she and her husband, Johnnie, will be laid to rest.  A memorial has been established in Dorothy's name to help defray funeral expenses.  Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E. 9th Avenue, Winfield, Kansas 67156.

Sorry to hear this. Sam and I were good friends in HS but lost touch afterwards. My thoughts are with him and the rest of the family.
