No, not necessarily. After talking at length to some local parents, who are extremely anti gun normally, but have had a change of heart since Sandy Hook, I think guns may have to pay a bigger role than I had originally hoped.
I still think hardening the schools, which the schools here are already looking into, will help...IMHO.
I'm not sure what you are trying to get me to say. We had to have it early because of a really stupid federal order which most areas here didn't have to deal with. Only a couple of districts were affected...all politics. It all had to do with a couple of political squeaky wheels and deseg...It hurt the reputation of our area for many years because we got caught up in it. Newark had been desegregated long ago and our kids of color went to school right here at our high school. The local black families were up in arms because they didn't want those tough street "N's" from Wilmington "messin" here in the  Newark schools. Which is exactly what happened. Lots of fights between the local kids and the bussed in imports trying to take over.
There were race riots in Wilmington then and a lot of areas were trashed.
In those days the only hospitals close were in Wilmington. When our ambulance arrived at the city line, we picked up police escorts to the hospital and still had rocks thrown at us. No shooting or fire thank goodness. Our crews weren't allowed weapons but had hard hats, goggles and Mace and were locked in the ambulances until we backed up to the ER doors. I do not want to go back to those days. There were some roof top sniper incidents, but not near where we had to go.
If some folks see armed camps as their only way to safety, that's certainly their choice. but I remember all the ways the kids here managed to get around the guards to get guns into schools anyway. Kids who knew were scared to death to talk . There were many good families who decided they'd had enough of the nonsense, took their kids and left. They either started their own private schools or moved to other states close by. Sorry this was so long.
No, I'm not anti gun...I'm anti run away gun laws that let just anybody go to a gun show etc.with no restrictions, and let them buy a truck load of weapons and drive off. Gee, how many might be true terrorists?

       Some people are just clueless. ::) :o :o :o

I leave for a day and Diane drops a load of ----, then steps in it, wipes it on the doormat, then picks some up and rolls it in little balls.

You are really stinking it up in here. :-X

Who are you to have any opinion at all? You don't live anywhere near where any of it happened.
I keep being told to shut up because I don't live where you are. You don't live where they are. It's up to them to decide what they want to do. I doubt they are the least bit interested in the opinions of any of you. I mean you have SO many armed teachers in your own schools.Ya better be happy for what ya have.
Your uneducated, ignorant attempts at nasty insults just let me know what a waste of tax money you were. You momma must have been so proud. I was conversing with someone else and answering some questions. Where ever you were...please go back. >:(

Bullwinkle

As I said, some people are just clueless.

Your remarks can bear that out, " Who are you to have any opinion at all"

"lions and tigers and bears, Oh my"

I guess you have to live where "they" are to have any sense of what's going on in the world.

       PS Momma is quite proud.

I will bet if this dude lives he will think twice before he sticks a gun in Uncle Ken's face again

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

A suspected robber and a store owner are hospitalized after they shot each other earlier this morning in southeast Kansas.

It happened late Wednesday morning at Uncle Ken's Coin Shop, located in the 1800 block of North Penn Avenue in Independence.

Police tell KAKE News a man came into the store with a handgun and demanded cash.

As the suspect was taking the money, the store's owner, Kenny Preble, pulled out a gun and some type of struggle ensued. Both men fired, and both were shot.

Police located the suspect about a block away. He had been shot multiple times. He was taken to an Independence hospital, then flown to a Wichita hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Preble was shot in the arm, and is undergoing surgery.

The stolen cash was recovered.

Well, you're half right.
Conservative to the Core!
Gun control means never having to fire twice.
Social engineering, left OR right usually ends in a train wreck.

Joe Biden revealed that President Barack Obama might use an executive order to deal with guns.

2008 Biden and his Guns...
Biden: "Obuma ain't taking my shotgun or beretta...
he tries pulling that deal, he's got a problem."

09/20/2008 Joe Biden braggs about his Beretta:

01/09/2013 Today, Biden and his anti-gun stand...

(Weekly Standard) "The president is going to act," said Biden, giving some comments to the press before a meeting with victims of gun violence. "There are executive orders, there's executive action that can be taken. We haven't decided what that is yet. But we're compiling it all with the help of the attorney general and the rest of the cabinet members as well as legislative action that we believe is required."

Biden said that this is a moral issue and that "it's critically important that we act."

Biden talked also about taking responsible action. "As the president said, if your actions result in only saving one life, they're worth taking. But I'm convinced we can affect the well-being of millions of Americans and take thousands of people out of harm's way if we act responsibly."

Biden, as he himself noted, helped write the Brady bill.

Eric Holder was scheduled to be at the meeting that's currently taking place at the White House.

Never mind that Team Obama recklessly put thousands of lethal assault weapons in the hands of criminal Mexican drug dealers during Operation Fast & Furious.

How quickly things flip-flop in one presidential election cycle.

However, we were duly warned more than once.

DOJ head tamale Eric Holder accidentally let it slip when he told Congress back in February 2012 that the Obama administration wanted to ban guns. According to Holder, during a Fast and Furious congressional hearing:

"This administration has consistently favored the reinstitution of the assault weapons ban. It is something that we think was useful in the past with regard to the reduction that we've seen in crime, and certainly would have a positive impact on our relationship and the crime situation in Mexico."

From Yahoo News, Wal-Mart to Attend Biden Gun Meeting:
Representatives from Wal-Mart, one of the largest sellers of firearms in this country, will attend gun violence meetings with Vice President Joe Biden tomorrow after initially turning down the invitation, a spokesperson for the company confirmed Wednesday.

Biden, cabinet members and senior staff are preparing to hold meetings this week with a number of groups focused on the problem of gun violence. Thursday he will meet with advocates for sportsmen and women and gun ownership groups, including the National Rifle Association.

"Knowing our senior leaders could not be in Washington this week, we spoke in advance with the Vice President's office to share our perspective. We underestimated the expectation to attend the meeting on Thursday in person, so we are sending an appropriate representative to participate," David Tovar, vice president of corporate communications for Wal-Mart, said in a statement.

"We take this issue very seriously and are committed staying engaged in this discussion as the Administration and Congress work toward a consensus on the right path forward," Tovar said.

Hey Bull... I've just been told that I'm the definition of patience and tolerance. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. Was also told I'll never be able to get along with my foes there because you aren't of the real world and are scared to death to leave the safety of your little clique. That's why guns are so important to you.You are so suspicious and can't get along with normal people any other way. Gotta have those guns for protection because ya really think everyone is out to getcha. I'm not sure what you have that anyone would want, but I can't be a judge of that. Keep on enjoying your obsessions. I'm told apparently I'm one of them. ;) I've got some things to do today that have real value...can you say the same?
